Job summary

IDEX Corporation in Wisconsin is seeking an In-Process Inspector / Process Auditor on 1st shift to ensure product and process integrity in a cleanroom manufacturing environment. This role supports a zero-defect culture by executing inspections, enforcing quality gates, and auditing processes.

Embedded on the production floor, you will perform inspections per drawings, manage nonconformances, and contribute to continuous improvement through data-driven problem solving and trainer-ready

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (preferred).
  • Experience in manufacturing inspection or quality assurance.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Working knowledge of ISO‑based quality systems.
  • Proficiency with common inspection tools and measurement equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Execute inspections per drawings, specifications, control plans, and work instructions.
  • Perform first-piece, in-process, and final verification inspections.
  • Ensure inspection integrity through proper handling and objective evidence.
  • Verify inspection equipment readiness and suitability prior to use.
  • Capture and record inspection data to support defect tracking and trend analysis.
  • Identify nonconformances and initiate containment actions.
  • Escalate quality issues per procedures and work with production to reduce defects.
  • Conduct routine process audits to confirm adherence to standards and limits.
  • Document audit findings with traceable evidence and verify corrective actions.

Position Summary

The In-Process Inspector / Process Auditor | 1st Shift is a hands‑on quality role responsible for ensuring product and process integrity within Mott’s cleanroom manufacturing operations. This position plays a critical role in maintaining a zero‑defect environment by executing in‑process inspections, enforcing quality gates, and supporting process auditing. Over time, the role expands in scope to include process validation, control verification, and continuous improvement initiatives that directly impact product quality and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities
In-Process Inspection & Quality Control
  • Execute inspections per engineering drawings, specifications, control plans, and work instructions

  • Perform first‑piece, in‑process, and final verification inspections

  • Ensure inspection integrity through consistent methods, proper handling, and objective evidence

  • Verify inspection equipment readiness and suitability prior to use

  • Capture and record inspection data to support defect tracking and trend analysis

Nonconformance Management
  • Identify nonconformances and initiate containment actions

  • Escalate quality issues in accordance with established procedures

  • Partner with production teams to clarify requirements and reduce repeat defects

Process Auditing & Compliance
  • Conduct routine process audits to confirm adherence to defined standards and operating limits

  • Evaluate production operations against approved procedures and specifications

  • Examine key process inputs including equipment, materials, environment, methods, and measurement systems

  • Verify effectiveness of process controls and operator training

  • Document audit findings using objective, traceable evidence

  • Ensure corrective actions are assigned, tracked, and verified for effectiveness

  • Support layered process audits and identification of systemic issues

Required Qualifications & Technical Skills
  • Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (preferred)

  • Experience in manufacturing inspection, quality assurance, or similar technical role

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications

  • Working knowledge of ISO‑based quality systems

  • Proficiency with common inspection tools and measurement equipment

  • Understanding of measurement systems, uncertainty, and inspection bias

  • Familiarity with basic data analysis, trending, and SPC concepts

  • Strong documentation and record‑keeping discipline

  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast‑paced production environment

Compensation

Total Rewards

The starting compensation for this position is $27.00 per hour. This position may be eligible for performance based bonus plan.
