IDEX Corporation in Keene, NH, is seeking a Quality Manager to lead the ISO-compliant quality system, oversee audits, and drive corrective actions in a fast-paced precision manufacturing environment.

You will manage supplier and customer quality evaluations, lead continuous improvement initiatives (Lean, Six Sigma), review inspection data, and mentor cross-functional teams to embed quality from design to production.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–10 years of experience in quality, supplier quality, metrology, optical inspection, or precision manufacturing.
  • Proven leadership experience of at least 3–5 years in a quality management or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of ISO quality systems, auditing practices, corrective actions, and internal quality procedures.
  • Hands-on experience with advanced metrology tools and reading optical/mechanical blueprints.

POSITION SUMMARY : The Quality Manager role combines strategic quality leadership with hands‑on oversight of our ISO‑compliant Quality Management System. You will lead internal and external audits, drive corrective and preventive actions, oversee supplier and customer quality performance, and ensure product acceptance through rigorous documentation, first article inspections, and continuous improvement initiatives. Success in this role requires a detail‑oriented, team‑focused leader who excels in a fast‑paced precision manufacturing environment and is comfortable balancing managerial responsibilities with technical, data‑driven quality work.

  • Lead, develop, and maintain the ISO‑compliant quality system.
  • Plan, conduct, and support internal, external, supplier, and customer audits.
  • Oversee corrective actions (CAR/PAR), drive timely closure, and report results.
  • Manage customer and supplier quality evaluations and feedback loops.
  • Support continuous improvement (Lean, Six Sigma, TPS).
  • Provide training, mentoring, and cross‑departmental quality guidance.
  • Lead quality documentation processes and ensure compliance with standards.
  • Participate in strategic planning for quality initiatives and operational improvements.
  • Perform incoming, in‑process, and final inspections using advanced metrology tools.
  • Interpret, analyze, and validate optical and mechanical blueprints/specifications.
  • Conduct First Article Inspections (FAIs), inspection data packet reviews, and source inspections.
  • Maintain production and quality records in accordance with internal quality policies.
  • Utilize precision measurement equipment: profilometers, interferometers, OGP systems, CMMs, and other optical testing instruments.
  • Serve as a primary interface with suppliers and customers for quality issues and root cause investigations.
  • Work with Engineering and Manufacturing to ensure quality is built into products and processes from the outset.
  • Ensure that products meet all applicable quality and documentation requirements (ISO, GMP, SOPs, SPIs).
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Works in a manufacturing and inspection environment.
  • Moderate walking, standing, stooping, bending, kneeling, and reaching required.
  • Occasional lifting and carrying of up to 50 pounds.
  • Operates tools, equipment, and machinery in accordance with company policies and procedures.
  • Required to maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Must follow established safety procedures.
  • Responsible for correcting unsafe conditions when possible and reporting hazards to management or the Safety Committee immediately.
  • Travel may be required.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum of 5–10 years of experience in quality, supplier quality, metrology, optical inspection, or precision manufacturing.
  • Proven leadership experience of at least 3–5 years in a quality management or supervisory role.
  • Strong understanding of ISO quality systems, auditing practices, corrective actions, and internal quality procedures.
  • Hands‑on experience with advanced metrology tools (interferometers, profilometers, OGP systems, CMMs, etc.).
  • Ability to read, interpret, and validate optical and traditional mechanical blueprints; strong GD&T familiarity.
  • Experience performing incoming, in‑process, and final inspections, including FAIs and source inspections.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage supplier quality, customer interface activities, and external audits.
  • Strong organizational, documentation, and decision‑making skills with exceptional attention to detail.
  • Experience working in optical, ultra‑precision, CNC, diamond turning, or similar high‑accuracy manufacturing environments preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize assignments, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Proficiency with relevant computer applications: MS Office, MS Outlook, and quality data/reporting tools.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across Engineering, Manufacturing, and Quality teams.
  • Willingness to travel up to 20% for supplier and customer audits.
  • Must have strong attention to detail.
