Job Summary

The Quality Control Inspector (QCI) is responsible for ensuring that all incoming materials, components, and finished products meet established quality standards and customer specifications. This role plays a critical part in maintaining product integrity by conducting inspections, performing quality tests, documenting findings, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives throughout the manufacturing process.

The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail, a commitment to accuracy, and a passion for delivering high-quality products. Success in this position requires the ability to interpret technical documentation, identify quality concerns, and collaborate effectively with production teams to maintain and improve quality standards.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions to understand quality requirements.
  • Inspect incoming materials and components to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Approve or reject materials, components, and finished products based on established quality criteria.
  • Perform quality inspections and testing, including film thickness measurements, adhesion testing, dimensional verification, and functional testing.
  • Select and evaluate production samples using appropriate inspection methods and measuring equipment.
  • Identify, document, and communicate non-conformances and quality concerns to the appropriate personnel.
  • Maintain accurate inspection records and prepare reports for Production Planners, Production Managers, and Quality leadership.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes and equipment to ensure consistent product quality and compliance with established procedures.
  • Conduct visual inspections of coated and fabricated components, identifying defects such as color variation, surface imperfections, uneven coating, adhesion issues, and workmanship concerns.
  • Support the maintenance and effectiveness of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Participate in root cause investigations and corrective action activities to prevent recurring quality issues.
  • Recommend and support continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
  • Promote a culture of quality, teamwork, and accountability throughout the organization.
  • Assist other departments as needed and perform additional duties assigned to support business objectives.

Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in Quality Control Inspection within a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated regular and reliable attendance to fulfill job responsibilities.
  • Proficient in the use of measuring and inspection equipment, including but not limited to calipers, gauges, micrometers, and other precision measuring instruments.
  • Working knowledge of blueprints, engineering drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Ability to perform inspections and quality-related tasks in both indoor and outdoor environments, including exposure to varying weather conditions.
  • Strong understanding of workplace safety regulations and the ability to promote and enforce safe work practices.
  • Ability to maintain accurate and detailed records of inspections, testing results, product information, and quality metrics.
  • Strong organizational skills with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Ability to identify quality concerns, recommend corrective actions, and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Ability to train and coach production team members on quality standards, inspection techniques, and quality control measures to improve product excellence.
  • Proficient computer skills and experience documenting inspection results and generating reports.
Work Conditions

Physical Demands / Work Environment

This position regularly requires walking, standing, sitting, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching, and climbing stairs throughout the workday. The role frequently requires pushing, pulling, twisting, and lifting materials weighing up to 50 pounds or more.

Work is performed in both manufacturing and outdoor environments and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions, temperature extremes, dust, noise, moving equipment, and other industrial conditions. Appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) must be worn as required.
