Quality Control Inspector

Full Time Manual Labor – Fremont, OH, US. Requisition ID: 1633.

Salary Range: $19.00 to $19.00 annually.

Primary Function

Responsible for ensuring the quality standards established by the company are met by analyzing parts and determining if the part meets established standards.

Reports To

Quality Engineer

Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Calibrate scales and quality measurement equipment to ensure accuracy, completing required calibration as per Hexagon and work instructions.
  • Perform functional and dimensional checks.
  • Understand product key features and installation requirements, identifying visible areas to customers and critical installation aspects.
  • Accurately interpret color checks.
  • Possess thorough knowledge of product components and material functions, including cap, substrate, and regrind.
  • Complete all required quality checks in a timely manner and in accordance with QC sheet requirements in Hexagon.
  • Use measurement tools such as tape measures, squares, calipers, and micrometers; maintain required personal tools for job performance.
  • Troubleshoot minor quality equipment issues and perform basic repairs, including replacing gloss meter or microscope batteries, microscope bulbs, and printer cartridges.
  • Replace thermocouple wiring on oil can testers.
  • Clearly explain quality defects and their impact to operators and packers and follow protocols for defects.
  • Notify operators immediately when quality defects are found during inspection.
  • Make sound, informed decisions when addressing recurring quality concerns.
  • Interpret technical drawings and blueprints to verify specifications not listed on QC sheets.
  • Maintain proficiency with Hunter Lab equipment, including standardizing, rebooting, and XYZ color readings.
  • Adhere to all safety rules, procedures, and company policies.
  • Remain capable of and willing to perform all packer duties as required.
  • Perform all tasks in compliance with established work instructions and standard operating procedures.
  • Check quality samples in a timely manner and certify product is approved to leave manufacturing.
  • Pass along relevant information to the next QC Inspector during shift handoff.
General Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Technical training in quality is preferred.
  • Basic word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer skills.
  • Ability to read scales, rulers, colorimeter, gauges, drawings, and quality control prints.
  • Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
