Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Inspect fabricated parts for dimensions, welds, and coating finish.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards and blueprints.
  • Document inspections and assist with NCRs and ECRs.
  • Travel up to 20% for site inspections of outsourced fabrication.
  • Support quality procedure improvements and training.
  • Inspect incoming materials against PO specs.
  • Assist with material handling as needed.

The Quality Control Inspector ensures that all fabricated steel components meet the required specifications and quality standards. This includes dimensional, weld and coating inspections, as well as ensuring proper documentation throughout the production process. The role supports and maintains inspection records, supports continuous improvement, assists in various quality control training modules and collaborates with production and engineering teams.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Inspect fabricated parts and assemblies for correct dimensions, hole sizes, weld quality, and coating finish.
  • Ensure compliance with quality standards (AISC, AWS), job specifications and blueprints.
  • Document inspections, assist with all Nonconformance Reports (NCR’s) and Engineering change requests (ECR’s) and report nonconformities to the Quality Manager and Production Supervisor.
  • Make site visits to inspect outsourced fabrication when required
  • Support training and improvement of quality procedures.
  • Inspect incoming materials for conformance to purchase orders and specifications
  • Assist with material handling and movement of parts as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
  • Must perform all duties in accordance with all safety rules and procedures. Identify and report unsafe acts and unsafe conditions to management immediately. Correct unsafe conditions wherever possible.
Qualifications
  • 3+ years of experience in steel fabrication quality inspection
  • Strong blueprint reading and weld evaluation skills
  • Familiarity with AWS/AISC standards and DFT measurement
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of the time
  • Overhead crane and forklift experience a plus
  • Effective communication and documentation skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Technical training in welding or quality preferred
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Perform basic arithmetic (add, subtract, multiply, divide)
  • Work with fractions, decimals, and measurement conversions
  • Understand tolerances and interpret precision measurements
  • Apply basic geometry for layout and inspection tasks
