Summary

Under the direction of the Quality Manager, the Quality Inspector is responsible for performing inspections on manufactured products during all stages of production and completes final inspections before shipment. The Quality Control Inspector may also inspect incoming materials for accuracy and defects. This position will ensure that products meet engineering standards and customer quality expectations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Inspect products at various stages of production to ensure all shop floor quality checks are complete
  • Input information into the QC software
  • Develop Welding Procedures
  • Perform WPQ testing
  • Ensure all in-process inspection documentation is signed and in order
  • Discuss quality issues with the production leads and supervisors to resolve issues timely
  • Participates in root cause analysis
  • Prepares and analyzes incident reports
  • Participates in quality related training programs
  • Prepare internal audits
  • Work schedule may cross shifts to ensure common practice
  • Inter-plant travel for knowledge sharing and coverage
  • Travel to vendors and company facilities to perform in process inspections

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of ASNT – SC1 inspection processes
  • Must be committed to quality
  • Ability to work in a cross-function team environment
  • Experience in an ISO quality system preferred

Education

  • High school degree or equivalent is required; post high school education or a technical degree or certificate is preferred

Other Skills:

  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent
  • Excellent customer service skills which include maintaining a good attitude, taking ownership of meeting customer needs, going the "extra mile" for customers, demonstrating a commitment to sharpening skills through education and training, using positive communication, and looking for opportunities to respect customers' time and schedules
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form

Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, production schedules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate effectively with other employees of the organization. Bilingual English/Spanish helpful, but not required.
