Location: Midland, Texas

Position Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Control Heavy Equipment Technician to join our growing team in Midland, Texas. This position is responsible for ensuring all heavy equipment meets operational, safety, and quality standards both upon return from the field and prior to being dispatched back to customers. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical knowledge, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment where equipment is continuously being moved, inspected, repaired, and redeployed.

Essential Job Duties

Equipment Return Inspections

• Conduct comprehensive quality control inspections on heavy equipment returning from customer job sites.
• Perform detailed walk-around inspections to identify mechanical issues, hydraulic leaks, electrical concerns, structural damage, missing components, excessive wear, and other deficiencies.
• Evaluate the overall condition of equipment to determine necessary repairs prior to returning units to service.
• Create detailed inspection reports and document findings on repair tickets and work orders for the maintenance department.
• Coordinate with shop personnel to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner.
• Move and transport equipment to the maintenance shop for repair and service as needed.

Equipment Readiness & Outbound Inspections

• Perform final quality control inspections on equipment scheduled to return to the field.
• Verify equipment has been properly washed, fueled, serviced, and prepared for customer use.
• Ensure all mechanical repairs have been completed correctly, and all identified deficiencies have been resolved.
• Inspect for any remaining structural damage, safety concerns, or operational issues before releasing equipment.
• Confirm all equipment meets company standards for safety, appearance, and functionality.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate inspection records, repair documentation, and equipment status reports.
• Monitor and respond to emails regarding equipment returns, repair status updates, and outbound equipment schedules.
• Coordinate with operations, dispatch, mechanics, and management to prioritize equipment readiness and fleet utilization.
• Communicate inspection findings and repair needs clearly and professionally.

Work Environment

This position operates in a high-volume, fast-paced equipment rental environment where equipment is constantly arriving, being serviced, and redeployed. The successful candidate must be able to effectively prioritize tasks and maintain accuracy while managing multiple responsibilities. Work is performed primarily outdoors and requires the ability to work in all weather conditions, including: West Texas heat, Dusty environments, Wind, Rain, Cold temperatures, Extended periods of standing and walking. The position requires frequent climbing on and off equipment, bending, lifting, and moving throughout the yard and shop areas.
