Job summary

Knife River Corporation is seeking a Quality Control Coordinator for our Prestress Plant in Harrisburg, OR. You will lead the Harrisburg QC Team and coordinate with outside inspectors and agencies to maintain PCI and DOT certifications.

You will supervise QC technicians, manage lab operations, and ensure adherence to PCI and ASTM standards while supporting continuous improvement and safety practices on site.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of management experience in precast/prestressed concrete or construction quality control.
• PCI Quality Certification Level III and related certifications are required or must be obtainable within 3 years.
• Strong leadership, communication and organizational skills; ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Quality Control Team: scheduling, assignments, and inspection coverage for daily production.
• Direct and report QC program issues to management/engineering; ensure PCI standards compliance.
• Organize and maintain quality control documents, manuals, and records.
• Train team members on QC standards and processes; ensure field and lab activities meet specifications.
• Manage Quality Lab, equipment, and compliance with ASTM standards.
• Interface with external vendors, customers, and inspectors; respond to field quality issues.

Job description

We have an excellent opportunity for a Quality Control Coordinator at our Prestress Plant in Harrisburg, OR. The Quality Control Coordinator will lead the Harrisburg Quality Control Team and act as the liaison between outside inspection personnel/agencies and the Harrisburg Plant.

The ideal candidate will lead a team of technicians and ensure that project specifications, PCI standards, and Plant Quality Standards are followed and that the Plant’s PCI and DOT certifications are maintained.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the management of the Quality Control Team including duty assignments and scheduling of personnel to ensure inspection & testing coverage for each day’s scheduled production.
• Manages, directs, and reports to management/engineering all quality control program issues and maintains compliance with PCI standards.
• Organizes, files and maintains all quality control documents, programs and manuals digitally.
• Manages and can hold accountable/regulate and train other plant Team Members on Company Quality Control standards and processes.
• Manages Quality Lab, equipment, and processes and compliance with all applicable ASTM standards.
• Company liaison to all outside vendors, customers and agencies/inspectors associated with the QC program.
• Can respond to field quality issues and trouble shoot problems while maintaining customer loyalty and relationships, including jobsite visits and oversight of field repairs.
• Trained and capable of adjusting stress calculations.
• Proactively manage and resolve conflicts within the Quality Control team and with external stakeholders.
• Understands, manages, and can develop conventional and SCC mix designs to meet engineering and production requirements.
• Understands, communicates and demonstrates safety policies and practices. Is either an active member of the safety committee or is a safety program owner. Can conduct a morning huddle and present a safety topic in a safety toolbox meeting.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Minimum (2) years of management experience in one or more of the following:
• o Precast concrete manufacturing
• o Prestressed concrete manufacturing
• o Construction inspection
• o Construction quality control
• Holds or have the ability to get within 3 years and maintains all appropriate industry certifications which include, but are not limited to the following:
• o PCI- Quality Certification Level III
• o Applicable local, State, ACI, and Department of Transportation certifications
• A positive, proactive, professional personality and an approachable team player
• Strong leadership and team-building skills.
• Must be able to efficiently and effectively multi-task and prioritize.
• Good math, record keeping and problem-solving ability.
• o Engineering and statistics background helpful, but not necessary
• Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings and specifications.
• Must be able to lift material samples of 75 lbs. approx. 10 to 15 times per day and on occasion more depending on duties required.
• Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Windows/Office programs, Piece Tracker, Kraft Match Cure, Command Alkon Dispatch, and Stonemont.
• Must be willing to travel or work overtime when needed.
• Ability to pass a pre-employment criminal background check, physical/functional exam and drug screen.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Engineering and statistics background helpful, but not necessary.
• PCI Quality Control Technician certifications -I, II, & III
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade 1
• Current WAQTC Certifications
• Oregon DOT Quality Control Technician (QCT)
• ICC Reinforced Concrete Inspector
• Experience with PieceTracker, Stonemont, Smartsheets or similar quality management software

Preferred Candidate Profile:

This is a hands‑on inspection and management position within an active prestressed concrete manufacturing environment. Candidates should be comfortable working at a desk in an office, in a test lab setting and throughout the production facility while interacting regularly with production crews, supervisors, engineers, auditors, and customers.
