You will ensure raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and packaging meet specifications and regulatory requirements, reporting to the QA Manager.

Responsibilities include testing, audits, data analysis, and collaboration with QA, Production, Plant Management, and EHS to improve quality and plant performance.

Qualifications

  • 1–3 years of wet chemistry testing experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory testing and quality control principles.
  • Experience with Statistical Process Control (SPC) and data analysis.
  • Strong computer/PC skills.
  • Excellent technical problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong attention to detail and analytical skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

Location: Bedford Park, IL

Position Type: Direct Hire / Full-Time

Schedule: Monday–Friday, 5:00 AM–1:30 PM

Hours: 40 hours per week with occasional overtime

Position Summary

We are seeking a qualified QC Chemist to join our Quality Assurance team in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Reporting to the Quality Assurance Manager, the QC Chemist will provide technical and quality support to ensure raw materials, in-process materials, finished products, and packaging meet established specifications and comply with applicable safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements. This position will work closely with Quality Assurance, Production, Plant Management, and EHS to maintain product quality, support manufacturing operations, resolve quality issues, and improve overall plant performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform quality testing of raw materials, in-process materials, and finished products in the plant laboratory.
  • Provide daily production support through testing, product adjustments, and material/product disposition.
  • Conduct quality and production line audits to verify compliance with established procedures and specifications.
  • Review production activities, batch records, manufacturing documentation, and quality records.
  • Identify discrepancies and work with production teams to implement corrective actions.
  • Utilize Statistical Process Control (SPC) methods for data collection, analysis, and process improvement.
  • Assist with root cause analysis and evaluate the effectiveness of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Provide technical support related to waste minimization and environmental compliance.
  • Support the timely disposition of returned, discrepant, or non-conforming products and materials.
  • Collaborate with Quality Assurance, Production, Plant Management, and EHS to address quality and safety concerns.
  • Identify opportunities for cost savings, cost avoidance, and process improvements.
  • Maintain safe work practices and comply with all company, safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
  • Communicate technical information and quality concerns effectively to employees at all levels and across multiple locations.
  • Take a leadership role in Quality Assurance matters when needed.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Quality Assurance Manager.
Internal Quality Audits

The QC Chemist must be available to conduct and support internal quality audits approximately 2–4 times per month. Responsibilities may include:

  • Reviewing production activities and processes.
  • Auditing batch records and manufacturing documentation.
  • Verifying compliance with established quality procedures.
  • Identifying and documenting discrepancies.
  • Communicating audit findings to appropriate personnel.
  • Working with Production and Quality teams to ensure corrective actions are implemented and followed through.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 1–3 years of wet chemistry testing experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of laboratory testing and quality control principles.

Education

Schedule & Work Environment

Monday–Friday 5:00 AM–1:30 PM
40 hours per week
Occasional overtime may be required
On occasion, the workday may extend until approximately 3:00–3:30 PM
