Job description

**Green Top Farms** was founded by a farmer-turned-public-school-teacher troubled by the lack of fresh, nutritious foods for many New York families. We have built a high-volume food service, catering, and delivery business over the past ten years. Throughout that time, we have remained deeply involved in working to provide better food resources and education for school children, food pantries, and the broader community. We have also pursued our vision for a more sustainable and equitable food system. During the COVID-19 pandemic, we focused on serving NYC City Agencies and providing food for the underserved and non-profit agencies throughout NYC.

What You'll Do
  • Serve as a Sous Chef or extensive hotline cook, capable of multitasking across all kitchen stations and providing coverage when needed.
  • Maintain knowledge of food safety and quality control, standardize protocols, and provide training as necessary.
  • Follow recipes and instructions from the Executive Chef, ensuring high standards of sanitation, quality, and organization.
  • Support food preparation, including chopping, cooking, cooling, and reheating food promptly.
  • Set up and break down stations with necessary supplies, ensuring readiness for the next day.
  • Comply with all safety, hygiene, operational, and food safety policies.
  • Monitor food production to ensure compliance with company standards and regulations.
  • Perform routine checks of raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
  • Monitor critical control points and adhere to HACCP plans.
  • Verify sanitation and GMP procedures are followed.
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance quality and efficiency.
  • Ensure cleanliness and proper storage of food products.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail, multitasking ability, and passion for nutritious, sustainable food.
  • Provide coverage for QC technicians when needed.

Must be able to work in a refrigerated prep/packaging area.

Who You Are
  • Must be fully vaccinated and boosted against COVID-19 with proof of vaccination.
  • 2-5+ years of experience in a high-volume, commissary setting.
  • Ability to lift over 50 pounds and stand for long periods.
  • Adherence to food safety, quality, and organizational standards.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Bilingual skills in Spanish are strongly preferred.
