Job description

The Quality Compliance Manager is responsible for ensuring that departmental activities align with quality goals and objectives. This role involves establishing a site quality management system, coordinating prompt corrective actions for quality events, maintaining effective workflows for customer complaints, and assisting in internal audits. The manager will coordinate and approve change control plans, establish and maintain a controlled document system, lead troubleshooting teams, monitor and report on corrective action effectiveness, and collaborate closely with Operations Leadership to identify and mitigate quality risks. Additionally, the position supports compliance with ISO and CLIA standards and drives global quality alignment. The position oversees both Randolph, WI, and Pleasantville, IA locations.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following:

  1. Coordinate activities of departments to attain quality-related goals and objectives.
  2. Assist operational personnel in completing immediate corrections to quality events promptly.
  3. Create and maintain workflows, templates, and response teams for quick resolution of customer complaints.
  4. Assist in conducting internal audits.
  5. Monitor, trend, and report on corrective action effectiveness, focusing on recurring issues.
  6. Assist with technical investigations related to customer complaints.
  7. Lead troubleshooting teams to ensure timely resolution or path forward.
  8. Suggest process improvements to resolve CAPAs based on trending data.
  9. This role is the highest-ranking Quality position at the site, working with Quality Supervisors and Operations Managers to support a quality management system and global quality procedures, including development, documentation, and execution.
  10. Interact routinely with all management levels and coworkers professionally and respectfully.
  11. Work proactively with Operations Leadership to identify and mitigate quality risks.
  12. Drive global quality alignment, especially regarding corrective actions and training implementation.
  13. Trend success/fail rates and error patterns to identify quality issues.
  14. Travel approximately 25% between both locations.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent industry experience. At least five years’ experience working within an established quality management system.
  • Problem Solving: Ability to identify and resolve problems efficiently, analyze information, develop solutions, and organize group problem-solving efforts.
  • Communication: Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills; active listening; effective participation in meetings.
  • Organization/Time Management: Ability to prioritize, plan, and manage tasks efficiently, setting clear goals.
  • Professionalism: Conduct oneself with courtesy, honesty, respect, and integrity; handle pressure well; follow through on commitments.
  • Teamwork: Collaborate effectively, value diverse perspectives, and contribute to a positive team environment.
  • Business Acumen: Understand the business implications of decisions, analyze costs, and align work with strategic goals.
  • Technical Skills: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret scientific and business documents; proficient in Microsoft Office, LIMS, and bioinformatics software.
