Job summary

Responsibilities include leading audits, facilitating management reviews, and training staff on documentation standards.

Qualifications

  • BS degree in chemistry, engineering or related field.
  • 2–5+ years in QA or QA engineering is expected.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and document control is preferred.
  • Chemical manufacturing background is a plus.
  • Strong problem solving and root cause analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System and document control.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects and plant-level QMS initiatives.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Oversee internal audits and manage corrective actions.
  • Prepare for customer quality audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Train staff on GMP-like practices and documentation standards.
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, and EHS on process controls.

Job description

Specialty chemical manufacturer seeks an independent Quality Chemist to oversee its Quality Management System. Excellent culture, benefits, and growth opportunity.

Duties
  • Maintain the business’s ISO 9001:2015 Quality Management System.
  • Evaluate procedures and process control systems and recommend opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Apply strong chemical knowledge to troubleshoot and resolve process challenges.
  • Conduct root cause analysis for quality issues and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Lead Continuous Improvement projects by facilitating engagement at all levels of the organization.
  • Communicate directly with managers and plant personnel to lead and spearhead QMS initiatives.
  • Facilitate monthly Management Review / Quality Conscious Committee meetings.
  • Optimize the Quality Management System, including the Risk Assessment Matrix.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve documented procedures, Work Instructions, and technical standards.
  • Train staff on GMP-like practices, documentation standards, and quality policies.
  • Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, customer specifications, and internal quality standards throughout all stages of chemical production.
  • Monitor and maintain batch record integrity, including documentation of deviations, investigations, and corrective actions.
  • Collaborate with Production, R&D, and EHS teams to evaluate process controls and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Maintain and improve the internal audit program.
  • Oversee internal auditors through completion of corrective actions.
  • Prepare for and participate in customer quality audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Manage change control processes and assess the quality impact of proposed changes to materials, procedures, or equipment.
  • Develop, review, and update SOPs and Work Instructions.
  • Use statistical tools and Excel to analyze quality trends and support continuous improvement.
  • Participate in development of plant performance metrics.
  • Champion strategic goal initiatives in quality and sustainability.
  • Spend time in the plants working with Operators to learn roles and responsibilities and support process improvements.
  • Extended hours or weekends may be required for special projects.
Salary

$70,000 - $75,000

Technical Qualifications
  • BS Degree in Chemistry, Engineering, or related science / engineering discipline
  • 2-5+ years of Quality Assurance or Quality Engineering experience
  • Chemical manufacturing experience preferred
