Job summary

Flex is seeking a Quality/Calibration Engineer in Columbia, SC to sustain quality programs and drive improvements across production processes. The role focuses on developing inspection standards, data collection and corrective actions, while interfacing with Product Engineers and Quality Program Managers on critical quality issues.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor's degree with 4 years in quality engineering and 2 years in calibration, preferably with exposure to power industry standards

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required.
  • 4 years of quality engineering experience in manufacturing.
  • 2 years of calibration experience.
  • Experience in the power industry or related sectors preferred.
  • Knowledge of NIST standards and ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory requirements preferred.
  • Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develops standards for inspection, testing and evaluation.
  • Designs sampling procedures and data reporting formats.
  • Implements disposition methods for discrepant material and tracks cost impact.
  • Directs staff in measuring and testing product and reliability data.
  • Develops training materials and conducts quality-related trainings.
  • Interacts with Product Engineers and Quality Program Managers on issues.
  • Ensures data availability and integrity of quality data and reports results.
  • Initiates corrective action requests and monitors closure.
  • Develops, applies and maintains quality standards for processing materials into finished goods.
  • Designs procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating equipment for precision and accuracy.
  • Reviews reports and returns to recommend corrective action.
  • Evaluates production equipment precision and conducts measurements research.
  • Approves product, process and equipment qualifications.
  • Liaises with regulatory bodies.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Quality/Calibration Engineer located in Columbia, SC

The Quality Engineer/ Calibration Engineer will be maintaining quality engineering programs, standards and improvements within the organization.

What a typical day looks like:
  • Develops and initiates standards and methods for inspection, testing and evaluation.
  • Devises sampling procedures and designs and develops forms and instructions for recording, evaluating and reporting quality and reliability data.
  • Develops and implements methods and procedures for disposition of discrepant material and devises methods to assess cost.
  • Directs workers engaged in measuring and testing product and tabulating data concerning materials, product or process quality and reliability.
  • Compiles and writes training material and conducts training sessions on quality control activities.
  • Holds up Product Engineers and Quality Program Managers with customer interfaces as necessary on quality related issues.
  • Assures data availability and integrity for all quality related data. Consolidates and reports quality results.
  • Initiates corrective action requests as needed and tracks to satisfactory completion.
  • Assists with development and implementation of quality audits.In charge of developing, applying, revising and maintaining quality standards for processing materials into partially finished or finished products.
  • Designs and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and/or production equipment.
  • Explores reports and returned products and recommends corrective action.
  • Establishes program to evaluate precision and accuracy of production equipment and testing, measurement and research of equipment and facilities.
  • Approves product, process and equipment qualifications.
  • Provides liaison to various regulatory bodies.
The experience we’re looking to add to our team:
  • Typically requires a bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent experience.
  • 4 years of quality engineering experience within a manufacturing environment
  • 2 years of calibration experience
  • Experience in the power industry or related sectors. (prefer)
  • Knowledge of NIST standards and ISO/IEC 17025 accredited laboratory requirements. (prefer)
  • Experience with regulatory and compliance requirements. (prefer)
