Job summary

Flex in Orangeburg, SC is seeking a Quality Technician to perform product inspections, audits of quality control programs, first article inspections, and calibration of inspection tools to ensure raw materials, in-process and finished products meet standards.

You will work from drawings and specifications, conduct root-cause investigations, record data, and help implement corrective actions. A High School diploma or equivalent and at least four years of related experience are required.

To support our extraordinary teams who build great products and contribute to our growth, we’re looking to add a Quality Technician located in Orangeburg, SC. Reporting to the Quality Engineer the Quality Technician is in charge of performing product inspection and/or audits of quality control programs, first article inspections and calibration, inspecting flat blank layouts, out of box audit (OBA) and sampling and testing of incoming components and raw materials. Purge material. Ensures raw materials, in process and finished products meet company standards. General documentations updated (Quality alerts).

What a typical day looks like:
  • Audits processes, tests and inspects products and/or develops, compiles and evaluates statistical data to define and maintain quality and reliability of products.
  • Working from engineering drawings, specifications, schematics, diagrams, written descriptions, layouts or defined plans to perform complex engineering testing, checkout, First Article Inspection, root cause research, internal corrective actions and supplier correction actions.
  • Interprets engineering drawings, schematic diagrams or formulas and confers with management or engineering staff to define quality and reliability standards.
  • Selects processes to be audited from primarily the manufacturing areas and checks for a variety of features, including ESD (electro-static discharge) and handling practices, documentation, training and process integrity.
  • Selects products for audits at specified stages in the production or post-production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and mechanical, electrical or cosmetic characteristics.
  • Records audit data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
  • Evaluates data and writes reports to validate or indicate deviations from existing standards.
  • Recommends modifications of existing quality or production standards, programs or reports to achieve optimum quality within limits of equipment capability.
  • Perform calibration on inspection tools e.g. micrometers, calipers height gages etc.
