Job summary

Starbucks is seeking a Quality Assurance Technician to help evaluate quality of finished goods and raw materials at our manufacturing facilities in Augusta. The role emphasizes GMP compliance, HACCP, and supporting safety and process improvement initiatives.

You will participate in maintaining plant quality programs, train partners on quality practices, and ensure adherence to safety guidelines while supporting business objectives.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma/GED or equivalent.
  • Operation of manual and automated analytical equipment (1 year).
  • GMP familiarity in regulated food manufacturing (1 year).
  • Scientific method and report writing (1 year).
  • Gathering, recording and reporting on operational and quality metrics (1 year).
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and document quality of finished goods and raw materials; report quality conditions.
  • Audit facility and warehouse to ensure regulatory and HACCP compliance; support audit programs.
  • Maintain a clean, safe working environment and participate in process improvement activities.
  • Maintain quality through GMP, Food Safety Preventive Controls, product specs and procedures.
  • Support HACCP programs and train quality-based programs to partners.
  • Demonstrate safety as a core value and enforce safety standards.

As a Quality Assurance Technician, You Will
  • Evaluate and document quality of finished goods and raw materials. Report quality conditions as needed.
  • Evaluate the condition of the manufacturing facility and warehouse space to ensure compliance to regulatory and HACCP requirements. Audit programs in support of quality objectives.
  • Maintain a clean and organized working environment. Follow safety regulations. Participate in process improvement activities. Meet performance schedules.
  • Maintain product quality through adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Food Safety Preventive Controls, product specifications and quality procedures.
  • Participate in the maintenance and development of plant quality programs in support of HACCP. Provide training and education of quality-based programs to manufacturing partners.
  • Demonstrate and understand safety as a core value and follow the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution; reinforce and coach others to do the same.
  • Understand and follow established safety guidelines, consistently comply with all safety procedures (e.g. PPE, Lock Out Tag Out).
  • Support food safety, legality and quality programs.
  • Maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures. Monitor and document quality measures using analytical tools.
  • Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

  • Regulated food manufacturing environment with familiarity of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) standards (1 year)

  • 4 year degree (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with food safety regulatory requirements and global standards including Preventive Controls for Human Food (FDA Code of Federal Regulations) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI). Experience with the GFSI certification schemes (i.e. BRC and/or or SQF). (Preferred)

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
