Job summary

Starbucks is seeking a Plant Lead to oversee day-to-day operations in our Augusta plant. You will lead shift activities, ensure product quality, manage inventory accuracy, and coach team members on safety and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Manufacturing or distribution experience required (minimum 4 years).
  • Experience with manufacturing computer systems or automated distribution/warehouse systems (1 year).
  • Strong communication, attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Able to follow verbal directions and work in a paced environment.
  • Proven leadership and coaching ability.
  • Familiarity with safety, quality, and sanitation standards.
  • High school diploma or GED; or 4+ years US military service.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain product quality per GMPs and quality procedures.

The Starbucks experience starts in our Roasting Plants where we have a dedicated team of professional roasters and supporting process teams including planning, warehouse management, packaging, roasting, maintenance, engineering, and logistics.
As a Plant Lead, You Will
  • Assist supervisor in day-to-day operations and advises of task completion. Prepare for and executes routine shift kick-off, close-out procedures, and completes shift notes.
  • Serve as an escalation resource for problems and issues that arise during assigned shift.
  • Audit assigned functional area daily to ensure attainment of product quality, inventory accuracy, and customer service standards.
  • Lead and carry out daily manufacturing, distribution or green coffee operations tasks. Ensure team attainment of daily productivity goals.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work environment. Oversee team execution of master sanitation schedule.
  • Provide training and coaching to team members on standard operating procedures, quality and safety procedures and regulations.
  • Recommend process improvements. Support process and business changes.
  • May create staffing schedules and communicate with temporary staffing agency to provide needed associates. Review line communication boards for Continuous Improvement suggestions, enters work orders into maintenance tracking system for issues requiring follow up.
  • Review and update Kronos ensure partner timesheets are accurate.
  • Demonstrate and understand safety as our core value and follow the key essentials to safety as set forth by our safety resolution; reinforces and coaches others to do the same coaches others to do the same. Understand and follow established safety guidelines, consistently complies with all safety procedures (e.g. PPE, Lock Out Tag Out).
  • Act as a safety change agent (e.g. CPR/First Aid certification; active engagement in safety committee, drives safety initiatives for department).
  • Support food safety, legality and quality programs.
  • Maintain product quality through adherence to good manufacturing practices, Food Safety Preventative Controls, product specifications and quality procedures.
  • Perform other duties as needed in support of business objectives and Starbucks Mission & Values.
  • Maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

  • If you are working in CA, CO, IL, LA, ME, MA, NE, ND or RI, you will accrue vacation up to a maximum of 120 hours (190 in CA) for roles below director and 200 hours (316 in CA) for roles at director or above. For roles in other states, you will be granted vacation time starting at 120 hours annually for roles below director and 200 hours annually for roles director and above.

The actual base pay offered to the successful candidate will be based on multiple factors, including but not limited to job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, and internal equity. At Starbucks, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at the high end of the range for their role, and compensation decisions are dependent upon the facts and circumstances of each position and candidate.
