Job description

Summary:

Performs daily inspections to ensure all quality standards are met throughout the commissary and bakery production areas; complies with the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs), Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), safe quality food (SQF), safety policies, and hazard analysis and critical control point (HACCP) and complies with all applicable governmental laws and regulations, designated backup in the absence of other Quality Assurance Technicians

Responsibilities:
  • Performs quality assurance checks by enforcing GMPs, SOPs, safety policies and HACCP.
  • Collects packages and performs tests associated with critical control point (CCP) for products such as weight, time, temperature, verifications of package code dates and magnet checks.
  • Takes the temperature of all coolers and freezers; calibrates all thermometers on a regular basis.
  • Prints labels required for production; verifies ingredients and packaging materials are in accordance to product specifications.
  • Conducts product label and raw material label audits. Also maintains list of allergens to avoid contamination of products.
  • Performs mock recalls on ingredients, packaging and finished products.
  • Documents and maintains concise and accurate records of daily quality inspection forms; reviews paperwork and ensures it has been completed properly. Reports any food safety and quality problems to direct supervisor immediately.
  • Follows and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practices, Company protocols and applicable governmental food safety programs and procedures, e.g., SQF, Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and United States Department of Agriculture (USDA).
  • Operates and monitors proper functioning of equipment; follows safety procedures when operating equipment, and properly sanitizes equipment and work area during and after use.
  • Demonstrates a high value for health, environment, safety and security issues, initiatives and programs including the use of Personal Protective Equipment.

Skill Requirements:
  • Excellent written communication skills and the ability to read English.
  • Basic math skills and knowledge of Word, Excel, and other MS Office suite applications.
  • Ability to work in environment containing allergens (nuts, milk, wheat, etc.).
  • Ability to perform repeated bending, standing, reaching, climbing, twisting/turning, pushing/pulling, squatting/kneeling/stooping, walking and grasping for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to read and follow basic instruction with an eye for detail and desire for accuracy.
  • Reliable, timely and honest with a drive to always do the right thing.
  • High level of accountability. Ability to accept responsibility and account for ones actions.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities.

Preferred Experience Requirements:
  • Prior quality assurance experience.
  • Previous Food Safety, Food Manufacturing or Food Service experience.

Shift is 11am - 7:30pm
Pay: $18.00 - $19.00 Hourly
