Job summary

Amcor in Oklahoma City is seeking a Quality Inspector to perform regular inspection tests and verify product quality in a fast-paced plastic manufacturing environment. You will collect samples, verify attributes, and document results to support release to customers, while maintaining safety, housekeeping and cross-functional collaboration.

We value attention to detail, strong measurement skills, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Prior experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment; plastic manufacturing highly preferred.
  • Good computer, mathematics and communication skills required.

Responsibilities

  • Work in a professional manner with other associates to ensure only quality product being released to the customer.
  • Collect samples from each injection molding machine, secondary process, and print line for testing; record results on forms.
  • Identify non-conforming product with 'Hold' labels and update the hold log.
  • Perform in-process attribute verifications and document checks; record results on the Quality Monitor.
  • Perform first shot verifications and document results using the appropriate forms.
  • Notify the Shift Supervisor of any non-conformances and monitor concerns for prompt resolution.
  • Notify Quality Assurance Manager immediately of any equipment deficiencies and defects not corrected.
  • Assist with LDR verifications as necessary.
  • Maintain a safe working environment and uphold quality and housekeeping standards.
  • Ensure smooth shift transitions by communicating ongoing concerns to incoming technician.
  • Walk the floor to become familiar with running products and consult with outgoing technician for issues.

Perform regular inspection tests on products and materials to verify that everything is functioning properly and efficiently to company safety and quality standards.

Functional dimensions: Quality Department, OKOK Oklahoma City Plant

Accountabilities
  • Work in a professional manner with other associates to ensure only quality product being released to the customer.
  • Collect samples from each injection molding machine, secondary process, and print line for the required attribute / dimensional / functional testing per the specified frequency. Record the results on the appropriate forms.
  • Identify non-conforming product with "Hold" labels and update the hold log.
  • Perform in-process attribute verifications and document checks. Record the results on the Quality Monitor.
  • Perform first shot verifications and document the results using the appropriate forms.
  • Notify the Shift Supervisor of any non-conformances that are found. Monitor active concerns for prompt resolution and elevate issue up the Management chain if the non-conformance is not being addressed.
  • Notify Quality Assurance Manager immediately of any Quality Department equipment deficiencies and quality defects which are not corrected promptly.
  • Assist as necessary with LDR verifications.
  • Maintain a safe working environment.
  • Responsible for ensuring quality and housekeeping standards are maintained.
  • Ensure a smooth transition between shifts by communicating any ongoing concerns/ lingering issues to incoming technician.
  • Walk the floor to become familiar with the products that are running, and consult with the outgoing technician for any items of concern.
Qualifications/Requirements
4.1 Formal Qualifications And Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Prior experience in fast-paced manufacturing environment; plastic manufacturing highly preferred.
4.2 Knowledge/Skills/Abilities/Behaviours
  • Good computer, mathematics and communication skills required.
  • Skilled in the use of measuring devices, such as height gages and calipers.
  • Independent in working effectively with little supervision; self-starter, displaying ability to work and deliver results in a fast-paced, performance driven environment.
  • Attention to detail, time management skills, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as a cross-functional team member.
  • Physical Requirements
  • Standing and Walking: Extended periods (Up to 12 hours per shift) on concrete floors in a fast-paced production environment.
  • Lifting and Carrying: Up to 50lbs safely with the frequency of at least 10 times per shift, and 25lbs regularly.
  • Pushing and Pulling: Carts, bins, and pallets using approximately 75lbs of force with the frequency of at least 10 times per shift.
  • Bending, Stooping, Kneeling: As needed to access materials and operate equipment in a regular frequency.
  • Climbing and Reaching: Using ladders or steps and reaching overhead or below waist level to load/unload materials with occassional frequency.
  • Mobility and Coordination: safely navigate equipment, production areas and storage zones with good balance and coordination. Occasional need to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Ability to view objects in the distance, near, and peripheral as well as depth perception.
  • Environmental Exposure: Work involves exposure to heat and humidity. May also be exposed to plastic, ink and cleaning chemical fumes. Moderate to high noise levels typical of injection molding and printing operations.
