Job summary

Sterling Foods, a San Antonio-based bakery manufacturer, seeks a Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead the Quality Department and drive SQF and HACCP programs to ensure safe, wholesome food production. The role serves as SQF Practitioner and HACCP Coordinator across the plant, ensuring compliance with customer requirements and regulatory standards.

The supervisor will manage QA staff, develop KPIs, and coordinate with operations and HR on staffing, training, and performance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or related field.
• Management experience in Quality and/or a USDA establishment.
• HACCP Certification.
• SQF Practitioner.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage daily Quality Department activities, personnel, resources and performance.
• Establish and drive quality and food safety goals aligned with company objectives.
• Oversee validation and verification of prerequisite programs as SQF Practitioner.
• Maintain HACCP Plan, prerequisite programs, quality documentation and records.
• Oversee the Pest Control Program including weekly pest management meetings.
• Lead quality meetings, problem-solving efforts and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Ensure product specs, GMPs, food safety standards and customer requirements are followed.
• Identify and communicate issues impacting product quality, food safety, production or cost.
• Oversee staff training, performance evaluations and development.
• Manage departmental staffing, scheduling, supplies, equipment and budget.
