Job summary

Darigold, Inc. in Portland, OR seeks a Quality Assurance Supervisor to lead the plant's quality and food safety programs.

You will supervise daily QA activities, partner with operations, and ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and regulatory requirements across receiving to shipping. You will guide internal audits, corrective actions, sanitation and environmental monitoring, and training for hourly staff, while maintaining scorecards and Kosher/Organic/Validus programs.

Qualifications

• BS in Food Science, Biology, Microbiology, or Chemistry.
• 2–5 years of experience in the food industry.
• Strong knowledge of GMP, HACCP, and food safety programs.
• Proven leadership and communication skills.
• Ability to supervise hourly employees and coordinate training.

Responsibilities

• Perform timely records review and monitor compliance with specifications, methods, GMP, HACCP.
• Direct internal audit program and report results; drive corrective actions.
• Managing corrective action/preventive action program; track and close items.
• Provide technical support for Appendix N program training and deficiencies.
• Conduct routine plant inspections from receiving to shipping of finished products.
• Oversee environmental monitoring and sanitation programs; report to management.
• Train hourly employees and review SOPs, performance and techniques.
• Report monthly training completion to plant management.
• Monitor metal detection records; validate procedures.
• Maintain plant Kosher, Organic, and Validus programs.

Job description

Darigold is seeking a motivated Quality Assurance Supervisor to join the team at our Portland plant. As a member of the Portland team, the Quality Assurance Supervisor will be a partner in the Operations Division and is responsible for the daily supervision of the plant quality and food safety programs.

What You Will Do:

• Perform timely records review, monitor compliance with specifications, methods and procedures, GMP, HACCP and food safety programs
• Direct internal audit program to verify compliance to regulatory and internal requirements. Track and report results and identify trends. Drive completion of corrective actions resulting from the internal audit program
• Responsible for the overall corrective action/preventive action program. Tracks and follows up on open action items and reports completion
• Provide technical support in the implementation of Appendix N program including training and correction of deficiencies
• Conduct routine plant inspection to verify compliance to regulatory requirements from milk receiving to shipping of finished products
• Environmental monitoring and sanitation monitoring by conducting and directing the associated programs. Gives regular updates to management on the state of open environmental sites and makes appropriate recommendations to management
• Train and review of methodologies, SOP’s, performance and techniques of hourly employees
• Report monthly scheduled training completion to plant management
• Timely metal detection document review to validate the efficacy of procedures
• Monitor CIP systems and documentation to ensure proper cleaning. Validate records and compliance with established parameters
• Responsible for investigating and following up on any reported food safety or quality concerns
• Track, trend and report key quality measures
• Maintain plant Quality and Food Safety Scorecard
• Maintain plant Kosher, Organic, and Validus programs
• Timely customer complaint investigation, resolution and reporting
• Third party audit preparation, review and response
• Special projects as needed
• Trouble-shooting plant quality issues
• Product development and equipment commissioning activities

What You Will Bring:

• 2-5 years of experience in the food industry preferred
