Job summary

Mitsubishi Electric Power Products, Inc. (MEPPI) is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to support the quality processes and perform quality audits within the Switchgear Division. This on-site role is based in Warrendale, PA.

You will oversee document approval, report nonconformance, train new vendors, and collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering and Sales to prevent quality problems. Travel to vendor locations may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in technical field or equivalent education/experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of quality control, engineering, production, and statistical methods.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
• Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and material.
• MS Office skills; Power BI a plus.
• Travel domestically up to 25%.

Responsibilities

• Oversee and review documents and document approval process for accuracy and accountability.
• Present and report nonconformance to QA Manager weekly and recommend solutions.
• Promote quality awareness and procedures to reduce quality problems.
• Perform audits and provide training to new vendors on QA procedures.
• Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering and Sales to prevent/remedy quality problems.
• Travel to vendor locations to analyze and remedy quality problems as needed.
• Assist in coordinating vendor and customer visits.
• Prepare documents to support customer audits and witness testing.
• Contact vendors to discuss material specifications and quality problems.
• Assist in developing quality control policies, forms, checklists, and reports.
• Create quality plans per QA Manager recommendations.
• Review vendors’ QA programs and assist them to meet MEPPI requirements.
• Track and trend vendor NCRs for QA Manager.
• Assist with ISO QMS audit planning and scheduling; participate in ISO audits.
• Contribute to a positive image of Switchgear within the company and with vendors.
• Know and discuss MEPPI’s Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies.

Oversee document approval process and ensure accuracy of documentation. Provide technical support for process related and/or supplier related process improvement. This is an onsite position based in Warrendale, PA

What You’ll Do:

• Oversee and review documents and document approval process for accuracy and accountability.
• Present and report nonconformance to QA Manager on a weekly basis and recommend solutions.
• Promote quality awareness and quality procedures to help reduce process and/or product-related quality problems.
• Perform audits and provide training to new vendors to familiarize them with MEPPI Quality Assurance procedures.
• Collaborate with and assist the Manufacturing, Engineering and Sales Departments to prevent and/or remedy quality problems.
• Travel to vendor locations to analyze and remedy quality problems as needed.
• Assist in the coordination of vendor and customer visits.
• Prepare documents to support customer audits and witness testing.
• Contact vendors to discuss material specifications, needs and quality problems caused by material and/or sub-components.
• Assist the Quality Manager to develop required quality control policies, procedures, forms, checklists, reports, etc., for vendor or factory assembly, test and shipping.
• Create quality plans per the recommendation of the Quality Assurance Manager.
• Review vendors’ quality assurance programs and assist them to meet MEPPI requirements.
• Track and trend vendor NCR’s for the Quality Assurance Manager.
• Assist with ISO QMS audit planning and scheduling. Participate in ISO audits.
• Further the goals and positive, professional image of Switchgear through interaction with other MEPPI Departments and vendors.
• Know MEPPI’s Quality, Safety and Environmental Policies. Be able to fully discuss the importance of these policies and how they impact work.
• Provide back up support for Field Incident reporting.

What You’ll Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in technical field with 0-2 years of experience in a quality control/inspection role, or equivalent education and experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of quality control, engineering, production, and statistical methods and techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and presentation skills required to communicate with employees, vendors and customers.
• Intermediate analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to read and understand technical drawings and material.
• Intermediate computer skills with emphasis on MS Office products. Experience with Power BI is a plus.
• Ability to travel domestically up to 25%, as needed.
