Job summary

State of Ohio - OIC is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to lead end-to-end testing of enterprise applications. You’ll bridge business requirements with technical validation, supervise testers, and ensure release-readiness and quality risk reporting.

The candidate must review and write automation code when needed, with hands-on Playwright or Selenium experience and TypeScript preferred, plus strong BRD/FR analysis and API/SQL validation.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of QA/testing experience in enterprise software environments.
• 2+ years as a QA Lead, Test Lead, or Senior QA with leadership responsibilities.
• Hands-on Playwright or Selenium automation; Playwright + TypeScript preferred.
• BRD/FR analysis, RTM design, requirements traceability, and coverage management.
• API testing and SQL/database validation; supervising testers and defect triage.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, and modern software delivery practices.
• Azure DevOps Test Plans experience; testing across multiple layers.
• Data Pipeline/ETL validation experience.

Responsibilities

Position Overview

The QA Lead will plan, coordinate, govern, and report on end-to-end testing for enterprise applications and integrations. This role bridges business requirements and technical validation, supervises testers, ensures requirements traceability, and provides management with clear release-readiness and quality-risk information.

The candidate must also be capable of reviewing and writing automation code when needed.

Required Skills

• 7+ years of QA/testing experience in enterprise software environments
• 2+ years as a QA Lead, Test Lead, or Senior QA with formal leadership responsibilities
• Hands-on Playwright or Selenium automation experience; Playwright + TypeScript strongly preferred
• Strong BRD/FR analysis, RTM design, requirements traceability, and coverage management

Key Responsibilities

Test Leadership & Governance

• Serve as Test Lead for programs, releases, modules, and production-readiness efforts.
• Develop test strategy, scope, entry/exit criteria, estimates, schedules, dependencies, and execution plans.
• Assign and supervise testing activities and mentor testers.
• Review test artifacts and enforce QA standards.
• Coordinate with BAs, Developers, Product Owners, PMs, DevOps, DBAs, and business stakeholders.

Requirements & Traceability

• Review BRDs, functional requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria, workflows, data mappings, and API specifications.
• Identify missing, ambiguous, conflicting, or untestable requirements.
• Translate requirements into test scenarios, test cases, test data, preconditions, expected results, and automation candidates.
• Maintain measurable traceability from requirements through testing and defects.

Azure DevOps Test Plans

• Create and maintain Test Plans, Test Suites, Test Cases, configurations, test runs, evidence, and defect links in ADO.
• Maintain relationships between requirements, test cases, executions, defects, retests, and closure.
• Use ADO queries and dashboards to report progress, blockers, defects, coverage, and release readiness.

Test Design & Execution

• Design and review positive, negative, boundary value, equivalence partitioning, decision table, state transition, role/authorization, data-driven, and risk-based tests.
• Coordinate Smoke, Functional, API, Integration, System, Regression, E2E, UAT, Performance-support, Database, and Data Pipeline testing.
• Ensure failures are reproducible and test evidence is complete.

Defect & Release Management

• Lead or participate in defect triage and severity/priority decisions.
• Ensure defects contain environment/build details, reproducible steps, expected/actual results, evidence, and requirement/test links.
• Provide evidence-based release recommendations and communicate residual quality risks.
