Job summary

Batory Foods seeks a Quality Assurance Specialist to ensure products meet strict quality standards and regulatory compliance. You will review processes, perform quality checks, and collaborate with teams to drive continuous improvement.

Ideal candidates hold a Food Science degree with PCQI/HACCP, 5–8 years in food QA, and strong Excel as well as communication and training skills. Ability to lift 25–50 lbs and travel >5% is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science or equivalent.
• 5–8 years in food production with QA background.
• PCQI and HACCP certification.
• Knowledge of maintaining food safety documents and GFSI knowledge.
• High attention to detail and strong Excel skills.
• Comfortable in a fast-paced, changing environment.
• Strong verbal communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
• Can lift 25–50 lbs.
• Able to travel >5% of the time.
• Bilingual.

Responsibilities

• Perform QA projects assigned by the QA Manager.
• Collect samples and perform quality checks during production; maintain records.
• Inspect incoming and outgoing trucks per shipping/receiving programs.
• Perform QA checks on raw materials, packaging, finished products, and labels; generate COA.
• Document lab results and compare to specs; report food safety concerns.
• Maintain calibration schedule and inventory for lab equipment.
• Coordinate samples with external labs; ensure required testing.
• Report process errors and production issues; stop production if needed.
• Maintain reports and non-compliance investigations; communicate findings.
• Conduct employee training and maintain records.
• Implement and maintain food safety programs (BRC, HACCP, SOP, SSOPs, Allergen).

QUALITY ASSURANCE SPECIALIST

Job Description

The Quality Assurance (QA) Specialist is responsible for ensuring that products and services meet consistent standards of quality. This role involves reviewing processes, identifying issues, implementing improvements, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to maintain regulatory compliance and drive continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform individual or group projects assigned by the QA Manager.
• Collect samples of ingredients, perform quality checks during production and assist with production records.
• Inspect incoming and out-going trucks according to shipping and receiving programs.
• Perform quality checks on incoming raw materials, packaging components, finished products and labels on a timely Generate Certificate of Analysis.
• Document and interpret lab results, compare to internal specification or vendor/customer specification to ensure product quality is within Discuss and report food safety concerns to related personnel for further action.
• Maintain lab equipment calibration schedule and inventory of lab supplies.
• Administer samples sent to outside laboratories and potential Ensure all customer required testing is performed. Follow schedule for environmental monitoring testing program.
• Report any process errors, product failures, or Follow through with operations regarding production issues and quality concerns. Stop production if needed and communicate information to all management and QA Manager for follow- up actions.
• Maintain all relevant reports, non-compliance report investigations and conduct monthly management meetings to communicate follow-up procedures.
• Conduct employee training and maintain records.
• Implement, manage, and maintain food safety related programs (BRC, HACCP, SOP, SSOPs, Allergen).

Education and Personal Qualification

• Bachelor's degree, in Food Science or similar; or equivalent combination of education &
• 5-8 years of experience in food production, manufacturing, processing, and distribution, with a strong background in quality assurance and quality systems.
• PCQI and HACCP certification
• Understanding in maintaining food safety related documents and knowledge in GFSI
• High attention to detail, strong computer and excel
• Comfortable in a fast paced, changing
• Strong verbal communication skills, presentation skills and technical writing
• Can lift 25-50 on
• Able to work occasional weekends and
• Able to travel >5% of the
• Knowledge in performing analytical tests such as pH, brix, HPLC and refractometer
• Bilingual
