Job description

The Quality Assurance/Quality Control Supervisor is responsible for enforcing health and safety strategies in our gas excavation divisions. This includes ensuring organizational compliance with applicable federal, state, local, and corporate health and safety regulations, enforcing internal corporate safety programs, tracking safety process improvements, conducting employee safety meetings and training, and implementing changes to maintain adherence to current OSHA compliance requirements.

Essential Functions:

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the field representative for SQT regarding questions/concerns, compliance audits, behavioral observations, and SQT coaching.
  • Ensure compliance with legal requirements and uphold high standards of performance.
  • Assist in developing and implementing safety and quality programs.
  • Perform investigations and audits in accordance with quality assurance and control standards.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to reduce employee loss time due to occupational injuries or illnesses and minimize fraudulent worker's compensation claims.
  • Respond to supervisory and employee inquiries regarding safety and quality issues, investigating and recommending actions as needed.
  • Approximately 50% of duties require travel to job sites across MA.

Success Factors:

  • Ability to conduct training based on safety, quality, and health programs, procedures, and practices aligned with OSHA, DOT, insurance carriers, Track, and customer requirements.
  • Ability to enforce audit protocols for safety and quality programs.
  • Skill in fostering a safety culture through behavior modification, near-miss management, claims review, post-accident investigations, and addressing adverse employee behavioral patterns.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to develop and maintain good working relationships with employees and front-line supervisors.
  • Capability to train and audit complex regulations, technologies, and management systems.
  • Ability to enforce safety and health programs, procedures, and practices in line with OSHA, DOT, insurance, and customer requirements.
  • Proficiency in understanding and following oral and written instructions.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Must pass motor vehicle and criminal background checks and comply with drug-free workplace policies.
  • English proficiency sufficient for record-keeping, ordering, and preparing reports.
  • Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.

Experience and Education:

  • Minimum of 5+ years of construction experience.
  • Preferred: 3+ years in the utility industry.
  • Preferred: 1+ years of management experience.
  • Previous safety or training experience is a plus.

Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications:

  • Possession or ability to obtain a valid State of Residence Driver's License within two weeks of employment.
  • Must pass criminal and MVR background checks and a pre-employment drug screen.
