Job summary

Moog is seeking a Quality Assurance, Project Engineer to optimize design and manufacturing quality across design, manufacture, and A&T. You’ll apply advanced statistics, lead cross-functional teams, and drive cost and quality improvements with independence and mentoring responsibilities.

You will report to the Quality Manager and work on-site in East Aurora, NY; the role includes coaching up to four engineers/technicians and collaborating across multiple engineering disciplines to deliver

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or related with 5+ years applying statistics in design, manufacturing, and assembly of complex systems
• Strong understanding of manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes; ability to make independent technical decisions
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills; able to present to customers
• Ability to coach others and oversee work at key project milestones; experience setting priorities is a plus

Responsibilities

• Lead variation reduction and design optimization by identifying key characteristics and key processes for product lines
• Develop and implement SPC and capability plans, including process and gage capability studies; validate solutions with data-driven analysis
• Apply advanced statistical techniques to assess manufacturing and A/T capability and inform design decisions
• Partner across Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials & Process, and QA to influence requirements and drive Design-To-Cost outcomes
• Present at customer design reviews, sharing capability studies and statistical findings
• Train and mentor teams on statistical concepts and best practices
• Manage project budgets and schedules; document results with clear, concise reports
• Support new product development with proactive quality planning; supervise up to four Quality engineers/technicians
• Depending on assignment, support supplier quality management, including performance metrics and contractual quality standards

We are currently seeking a Quality Assurance, Project Engineer.

You will assist us to optimize design, reduce variation, and elevate product quality across design, manufacturing, and Assembly & Test (A&T). As a Project Quality Engineer, you’ll apply advanced statistical methods and deep engineering knowledge to drive quality and cost optimization. You’ll work independently with minimal guidance, collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, and may coach or supervise a small group of engineers/technicians. Depending on business needs, you may be aligned to Quality Engineering, Quality Control Engineering, or Supplier Quality Engineering. You will be accountable for entire projects or major components. You will tackle complex, sometimes undefined problems with rigorous analysis and cross-functional collaboration. You will achieve operational targets with significant impact on quality, cost, and delivery.

You will report directly to the Quality Manager and enjoy an on-site, collaborative working environment in East Aurora, New York.

To be considered for the Quality Assurance, Project Engineer role, here’s what you’ll typically need to bring with you…

• BS in Engineering or related with a minimum of five (5) years of experience applying statistics in design, manufacturing, and assembly of complex systems (e.g., electrohydraulic, electromechanical, or electropneumatic servomechanisms) Proven expertise in SPC, DOE, regression analysis, capability studies, and root cause/corrective action.
• Strong understanding of manufacturing, assembly, and testing processes; comfortable making independent technical decisions.
• Excellent problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills; confident presenting to customers.
• Ability to coach others and oversee work at key project milestones; experience setting priorities and performing appraisals is a plus.

As a Quality Assurance, Project Engineer you will be responsible for the following…

Salary Range Transparency

Buffalo, NY $100,000.00–$130,000.00 Annually
