Job summary

Valor Compounding Pharmacy in Berkeley, CA seeks a Quality Assurance Pharmacist responsible for verifying the quality of compounded medications and providing consultations both over the phone and in person. This full-time role reports to the Pharmacist in Charge.

You will verify medication preparation, labeling, and compliance with regulations; counsel patients; and contribute to staff education in a fast-paced, growing environment.

Qualifications

• A graduate of an accredited school of pharmacy with a Bachelor of Science or PharmD degree.
• Licensed and in good standing with the CA Board of Pharmacy.
• At least 1–3 years experience in compounding pharmacy preferred but not required.
• Experience with pharmacy software, pharmacology, knowledge of legal compliance, FDA health regulations.
• Read, understand, and be compliant with HIPAA.
• Dependable, punctual, and able to meet deadlines.
• Lead a team, be accountable, and have good ethics and etiquette.
• Ability to manage a pharmacy, including budgets and staff training per Valor's policies and State Rules.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Able to communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

• Verify the preparation, quality, and labeling of compound medications.
• Verify order entries, charges, and inspections.
• Prepare medications by reviewing physician orders and detecting incompatibilities.
• Dispense medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling.
• Provide pharmacological information by answering questions from healthcare professionals.
• Counsel patients on drug therapies.
• Develop staff knowledge through training of staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and professionals.
• Comply with state and federal drug laws and maintain proper records.
