Job summary

The Quality Assurance Manager at Anheuser-Busch oversees brewing quality initiatives at the Columbus Brewery, focusing on food safety, microbiology, and sanitation. You will partner with operations leadership to strengthen quality systems, monitor metrics and drive improvements across the brewery.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science degree in a related field; MBA is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of brewing and packaging processes including CIP/COP.
  • Experience with GMPs, HACCP, pest and allergen control; familiarity with GFSI standards (BRC, FSSC22000, SQF).
  • 5+ years in the food and beverage industry.
  • Strong leadership, collaboration, and data-analysis skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quality initiatives and partner with operations to strengthen systems.
  • Track and monitor key quality metrics (Food Safety, Microbiology, Consumer Complaints).
  • Serve as domain expert on food safety laws; interact with agencies and inspections.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Quality policies and metrics.
  • Develop and monitor critical control points to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Improve sanitation programs, evaluate suppliers to reduce costs and improve results.
  • Use VPO tools to hit metric targets and conduct root-cause analysis.

SALARY: $106,400 - $126,000, bonus and long-term incentive eligible

ROLE SUMMARY:

The Quality Assurance Manager role leads key quality initiatives supporting Brewing Quality Assurance at the Columbus Brewery, with a focus on food safety, microbiology, sanitation, quality performance, and continuous improvement. This position partners closely with operations and brewery leadership to strengthen quality systems, monitor critical metrics, support regulatory compliance, and drive improvements across the brewery. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical quality experience, and a data-driven approach to problem solving.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • This position will support Quality and coordinate initiatives in the Brewery that will ensure integrity in Quality procedures and certifications according to agencies/government regulations
  • Primary responsibility for tracking andmonitoring all Quality critical metrics including Food Safety, Microbiology, Consumer Complaints, etc.
  • Considered a domain specialist on food safety laws. Interact with government agencies/officials on food safety issues and inspections for the Brewery
  • Lead the continuous improvement of Quality policies and associated important metrics in support of Qualityprocedures
  • Lead development and monitoring of all critical control points to ensure consistency and quality
  • Lead efforts in the brewery to improve Quality and the effectiveness of plant cleaning and sanitation programs. Evaluate new suppliers of products and equipmentin order toreduce costs and improve results
  • Utilize VPO tools to achieve critical metric targets and close gaps in performance (root cause analysis, Gap Analysis, MCRS meeting schedules and action logs, 5 - Why’s, PDCA and SDCA cycles, etc.)
  • Drive ownership and results via Autonomous Team Strategy
  • Responsible for financial performance of area
  • Responsible for driving actions and leading improvement in team engagement
  • Oversee preventative maintenance work in area of responsibility
  • Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are being followed
  • Monitor production plans to maintain quality and accomplish current and future schedules
  • Ensure that quality and safety standards are met
JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor of Science degreerequired, Food/Brewing Science, Microbiology,engineeringor related field preferred. MBA a plus
  • In depthknowledge of both brewing and packaging processes, including plant sanitation (CIP/COP) practices
  • Workingknowledge current GMPs, HACCP, pest control and allergen control. Expertise in GFSI standards (BRC, FSSC22000, SQF, etc.) a plus
  • At least five years of experience in the food and beverage industryrequired
  • Indepthknowledge of food/brewing microbiology and microbiological methods used in the brewing industry
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation; technical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to extract, evaluate, and utilize data for process improvement from applicable systems
  • Demonstrated leadership and change management skills
  • Ability to cross-functionally move between departments and divisions
  • Flexibility and availability to work rotating shifts, overtime and weekends
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (both verbal and written)required
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skillsrequired
