Job summary

Anheuser-Busch is seeking a BPM, Quality Assurance lead at the Los Angeles Brewery to drive food safety, microbiology, sanitation, and quality performance. You will partner with operations and brewery leadership to strengthen systems and metrics.

The ideal candidate brings leadership, technical QA experience, and a data-driven approach to problem solving in a fast-paced brewing environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Food/Brewing Science, Microbiology, Engineering or related field.
  • MBA is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of brewing and packaging processes including sanitation (CIP/COP).
  • Working knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, pest control and allergen control.
  • Expertise in GFSI standards (BRC, FSSC22000, SQF).
  • At least five years in food and beverage industry.
  • Strong knowledge of brewing microbiology and methods.
  • Strong leadership and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Support Quality initiatives in the Brewery ensuring integrity of quality procedures and certifications.
  • Track and monitor Quality metrics including Food Safety, Microbiology, Consumer Complaints.
  • Interact with government agencies on food safety issues and inspections.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Quality policies and metrics.
  • Develop and monitor Critical Control Points to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Improve sanitation programs and plant cleaning effectiveness.
  • Evaluate new suppliers to reduce costs and improve results.
  • Utilize VPO tools to achieve metric targets and drive root cause analysis.
  • Lead actions for performance improvements and team engagement.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance in the area of responsibility.
  • Ensure SOPs are followed and production plans meet schedules.

ROLE SUMMARY

The BPM, Quality Assurance role leads key quality initiatives supporting Brewing Quality Assurance at the Los Angeles Brewery, with a focus on food safety, microbiology, sanitation, quality performance, and continuous improvement. This position partners closely with operations and brewery leadership to strengthen quality systems, monitor critical metrics, support regulatory compliance, and drive improvements across the brewery. The ideal candidate brings strong leadership, technical quality experience, and a data-driven approach to problem solving.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • This position will support Quality and coordinate initiatives in the Brewery that will ensure integrity in Quality procedures and certifications according to agencies/government regulations.
  • Primary responsibility for tracking and monitoring all Quality critical metrics including Food Safety, Microbiology, Consumer Complaints, etc.
  • Considered a domain specialist on food safety laws.
  • Interact with government agencies/officials on food safety issues and inspections for the Brewery.
  • Lead the continuous improvement of Quality policies and associated important metrics in support of Quality procedures.
  • Lead development and monitoring of all critical control points to ensure consistency and quality.
  • Lead efforts in the brewery to improve Quality and the effectiveness of plant cleaning and sanitation programs.
  • Evaluate new suppliers of products and equipment in order to reduce costs and improve results.
  • Utilize VPO tools to achieve critical metric targets and close gaps in performance (root cause analysis, Gap Analysis, MCRS meeting schedules and action logs, 5 - Why's, PDCA and SDCA cycles, etc.).
  • Drive ownership and results via Autonomous Team Strategy Responsible for financial performance of area.
  • Responsible for driving actions and leading improvement in team engagement
  • Oversee preventative maintenance work in area of responsibility.
  • Ensure that Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are being followed.
  • Monitor production plans to maintain quality and accomplish current and future schedules.
  • Ensure that quality and safety standards are met.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor of Science degree required, Food/Brewing Science, Microbiology, engineering or related field preferred.
  • MBA a plus.
  • In depth knowledge of both brewing and packaging processes, including plant sanitation (CIP/COP) practices.
  • Working knowledge current GMPs, HACCP, pest control and allergen control.
  • Expertise in GFSI standards (BRC, FSSC22000, SQF, etc.) a plus.
  • At least five years of experience in the food and beverage industry required.
  • In depth knowledge of food/brewing microbiology and microbiological methods used in the brewing industry.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and team orientation; technical and problem solving skills.
  • Ability to extract, evaluate, and utilize data for process improvement from applicable systems.
  • Demonstrated leadership and change management skills.
  • Ability to cross-functionally move between departments and divisions.
  • Flexibility and availability to work rotating shifts, overtime and weekends.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills (both verbal and written) required.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills required.
