Job summary

Canam Steel Corporation in Jacksonville, FL seeks a Quality Control Manager to lead the QC department, develop policies and ensure compliance with contract requirements and quality control plans. You will inspect structures, equipment, and materials, document discrepancies, and drive proper disposition.

Qualifications

• HS Diploma or equivalent.
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, supply chain or manufacturing-related field preferred.
• 3-5 years of Quality Control experience.
• 5 years or more of progressive management experience preferred.
• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI).
• ASNT level II certification preferred.
• ASNT level III certification preferred.
• Knowledge of AISC/ISO certification programs preferred.
• Strong communication abilities – both oral and written.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and related manufacturing software.

Responsibilities

• Maintains a positive work environment by professional behavior with customers, co-workers, clients, and supervisors.
• Manages direct reports through coaching and training.
• Develops and maintains good relationships with customers across departments to ensure project schedules.
• Plans and formulates inspection plans; directs activities to ensure contractual compliance.
• Determines QA methodology and techniques for inspecting/testing systems or materials.
• Conducts QA audits and prepares reports documenting findings.
• Coordinates with other work units to accomplish tasks.
• Advises managers on status of work and liaises with customers and suppliers.
• Reviews and resolves technical problems; develops corrective actions.
• Develops QA reports and supports proposals, quotes, and manuals.
• Monitors QA performance and maintains QA documentation and non-conformance system.
