Job summary

ABB is seeking a Quality Leader for its local unit in the United States to deploy and drive the quality strategy, systems, and culture. You will coordinate cross-functional teams to achieve world-class quality, ensure certifications, and sustain operations.

You will lead prevention-focused initiatives, drive continuous improvement, and manage audits, CAPA, and data analytics to deliver high-quality products and services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree with minimum 8 years experience or equivalent.
  • Experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment; ISO standards.
  • Experience applying lean manufacturing tools (5S, 8D, PPAP).
  • Strong data analysis with Minitab.
  • Leadership and cross-functional collaboration across organization.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and execute the local Quality Management System (QMS) strategy.
  • Embed customer-centric, prevention-focused quality culture.
  • Drive audits, data analytics, CAPA, and corrective actions.

Your role and responsibilities:

Deploys and leads the quality strategy for a local organizational unit, including quality culture, systems, tools, and competent teams, with the aim to achieve and exceed customer expectations while ensuring sustainable operations. Drives the local quality system through the right mix of prevention, continuous improvement, robust root cause analysis, quick response, and sustainable solutions to problems. Coordinates the efforts of all necessary local functions that impact the quality results to reach the targets for the organizational unit and aim for world-class performance. Ensures that the necessary certification requirements are met throughout the organization.

You will be mainly accountable for:
  • Lead and execute the local Quality Management System (QMS) strategy, ensuring alignment with ABB standards, regulatory requirements, and business objectives while driving continuous improvement.
  • Partner with leadership and cross-functional teams to embed a customer-centric, prevention-focused quality culture that improves performance, reduces risk, and drives toward zero defects.
  • Drive quality assurance and compliance through robust audit programs, data analytics, and closed-loop processes, identifying root causes and implementing effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Champion operational excellence and customer satisfaction by integrating voice-of-customer insights, optimizing processes, and ensuring consistent, efficient delivery of high-quality products and services.
Qualifications for the role:
  • Bachelor's degree with minimum 8 years experience OR Associate's degree with minimum 10 years experience OR High School Diploma with minimum 12 years experience and already have or be willing to obtain ASQ CMQ/OE Certification.
  • Proven experience in quality engineering within a manufacturing environment, including strong knowledge of ISO standards and quality management systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to apply lean manufacturing tools and methodologies (5S, 8D, PPAP) to drive continuous improvement.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and trend identification using tools such as Minitab.
  • Effective leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across all levels of the organization, customers, and suppliers.
  • Experience managing quality operations, including ISO certification maintenance, corrective/preventive actions, root cause analysis, and day-to-day quality department activities.
  • Track record of driving process improvements to reduce cost of poor quality (scrap, rework, warranty), with preferred certifications (ASQ/Six Sigma) and experience with SAP and Microsoft Project.
  • Candidates must already have work authorization that would permit them to work for ABB in the US.
