Job summary

PowerSecure, a Southern Company subsidiary, is seeking a Quality Assurance Manager to lead the QA team and ensure product and process conformity at the Durham site.

You will develop and execute the Quality Management System to meet ISO 9001:2015 standards, drive DPU improvements, and partner with Engineering and Production to sustain customer satisfaction.

A strong background in quality management, ERP experience (SAP or IFS), and 10+ years in manufacturing quality are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering or quality management.
• 10+ years of directly related quality experience.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and ISO 9001 standards.
• Professional certification in QA/QM preferred.
• Experience with manufacturing ERP systems (SAP or IFS preferred).
• Ability to read and communicate in English.

Responsibilities

• Lead QA department to ensure PowerSecure systems meet quality requirements.
• Develop, implement, and maintain Quality Management System (QMS) in compliance with ISO 9001:2015.
• Manage quality performance metrics and reports for leadership and cross-functional teams.
• Lead root-cause analysis, 8D actions, and corrective actions for non-conformances.

Summary:

The Quality Assurance Manager will provide leadership ensuring the quality, functionality, and overall conformity of the processes for the manufacture of products at PowerSecure location. This individual will lead the QA team in development, implementation and execution of Quality Management System to ensure products manufactured at PowerSecure meet internal and external standards.

Essential Functions:

This position manages the Quality Assurance department to ensure PowerSecure systems and processes meet or exceed Quality requirements.

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Leadership

• Develop, Implement, and Maintain Quality Management System including, Document Management, Quality Performance Metrics,
  Calibrations and Material Review Board to ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
• Develop and Manage PowerSecure Quality Management system to drive quality commitments and ensure internal and external
  customer satisfaction.
• Manager quality performance metric reports and findings are reported to management and cross functional teams, ensuring
  transparency on status and progress.
• Act as a catalyst to ensure timely decisions are made on non-conformities – ensuring participation and buy-in (sign-off) from both Engineering and Production Leadership. Lead Auditing, 8D corrective actions, root cause analysis, trend analysis as needed.
• Maintain product quality by developing and enforcing quality assurance and quality control policies and procedures in response to nonconformances found during quality inspections and field commissioning.
• Utilize Customer feedback to measure manufacturing defects found during on-site commissioning and take corrective actions in the
  assembly and process to rectify.
• Participate in internal quality system audits.
• Develop feedback loops to identify and correct defects discovered in quality phase that originated in the production process.
• Represent and encourage a continuous improvement in culture within the production team.
• Drive measurable improvement in DPU (Defects per Unit) identified in the field.
• Coach, mentor and develop a strong team capable of supporting all aspects of Quality Assurance and Quality Management system.
• Establishes annual goals and objectives, (including stretch targets) in coordination with corporate objectives, and manages
  performance to ensure attainment
• Manage, mentor, and develop Quality Assurance members and create career growth opportunities and robust succession plans within
  the team.
• Promote and enable development of staff, manage, and document performance, and implement responsive actions.

Cost out & Efficiency Improvements:

• Drive (measurable) defect per unit(DPU) reductions through collaboration with cross-functional teams.
• Drive in process quality improvements to reduce rework.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, quality management or a related field required.
• 10+ years of directly related Quality Experience
• Requires strong knowledge of Quality management systems and standards.
• Professional certification in Quality Assurance or Quality Management preferred.
• Strong Knowledge of ISO 9001: Certification as an experienced auditor preferred.
• Experience with manufacturing ERP systems (SAP or IFS preferred)
• Ability to read and communicate in English.

Physical Demands:

• Limited travel will be required (Less than 10%).
• Local travel between sites DI-Durham and DI-Randleman may be required.
• Must be able to work in an office environment with a lot of sitting and tolerate a full day of computer screen viewing.

Professional office environment. Some walking will be required to monitor projects on the shop floor.
