Description
ROLE OVERVIEW

The Quality Assurance Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing quality control programs across all roofing installation, repair, and maintenance projects. This role ensures that all work performed meets company standards, manufacturer specifications, building codes, and customer expectations.

The QA Manager works closely with field crews, project managers, and vendors to reduce defects, minimize callbacks, and protect the company's reputation for craftsmanship and safety. This position reports directly to the General Manager and serves as a key partner in driving operational excellence.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

The role is structured around four core workstreams: quality control, program development, compliance, and cross-functional collaboration.

1. Quality Control & Inspections
  • Conduct in-progress and final inspections on residential and/or commercial roofing projects to verify compliance with manufacturer installation guidelines, local building codes, and company workmanship standards
  • Develop and maintain standardized inspection checklists for various roofing systems (asphalt shingle, tile, metal, flat/low-slope, TPO, EPDM, etc.)
  • Identify defects, non-conformances, and safety hazards, and coordinate corrective action with field supervisors and crews
  • Track and analyze warranty claims, callbacks, and customer complaints to identify root causes and trends
2. Program Development & Process Improvement
  • Design and continuously improve the company's quality assurance program, policies, and procedures
  • Partner with training/HR to develop and deliver ongoing crew training on installation best practices, new products, and code updates
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of manufacturer certification requirements (e.g., GAF, Owens Corning, CertainTeed, Malarkey) and ensure crews maintain required certifications
  • Support pre-installation planning by reviewing project specs, material orders, and scopes of work for accuracy
3. Compliance & Documentation
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA safety regulations and internal safety protocols during site inspections
  • Maintain accurate, organized documentation of inspections, corrective actions, and quality metrics
  • Prepare regular quality performance reports for the General Manager, including KPIs such as callback rate, inspection pass rate, and customer satisfaction scores
  • Support manufacturer warranty inspections and audits as needed
4. Cross-Functional Collaboration
  • Act as a liaison between field operations, sales, and manufacturers to resolve quality issues promptly
  • Collaborate with project managers to schedule inspections without disrupting project timelines
  • Provide feedback and coaching to crew leads and subcontractors to raise overall workmanship standards
  • Participate in leadership meetings, reporting quality trends and recommending process changes
WHAT YOU BRING
  • 5+ years of experience in the roofing industry, including hands-on installation, supervisory, or inspection experience
  • Strong working knowledge of roofing systems, materials, and installation methods
  • Familiarity with local/state building codes and manufacturer specifications
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to document findings clearly
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to job sites regularly
  • Ability to climb ladders, walk roofs, and work at heights in various weather conditions
PREFERRED
  • Experience with quality management systems or CRM/project management software
  • Prior experience in a QA, quality control, or compliance role
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
  • Reduced callback and warranty claim rates
  • Consistent, documented inspection processes across all projects
  • Improved crew adherence to manufacturer and code requirements
  • Increased customer satisfaction and referral rates tied to workmanship quality
  • Clear, actionable quality reporting delivered to leadership on a regular cadence
PHYSICAL & WORK REQUIREMENTS
