Job summary

MacKay Manufacturing Inc. is seeking an Inspector to test and inspect raw materials, machined components, and finished products against specifications. The role involves detailed dimensional evaluation and documentation of conformity and deviations.

You will work from drawings and customer specifications, using micrometers, calipers, and other gauges. Calibration of tools and AS9102 first article inspections are part of the responsibilities.

Qualifications

• 2-3 years inspection experience in a precision manufacturing environment.
• Knowledge of GD&T and ISO 9001 principles.
• Proficient with MS Office (Outlook, Word).
• Able to differentiate colors and have good visual acuity (20/25).
• Ability to read blueprints and customer specifications.

Responsibilities

Summary

Responsible for testing, sampling, measuring and inspection of raw materials, machined parts, final product and processes for quality, deviations, or defects according to specifications.

Job Responsibilities

• Inspect and perform detailed dimensional evaluation of raw material, machined components, and/or finished product to determine conformance to specifications and established inspection criteria and procedures.


• Timely and accurately document inspection acceptability or non-conformance per documented procedures.


• Work from blueprints, diagrams, and customer specifications where general information is provided; requires some independent judgment


• Effectively utilize measurement devices including micrometers, calipers, and other general inspection equipment


• Periodically calibrate precision measuring equipment such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, etc. using gauge blocks or other suitable tools which are in the calibration system and traceable to NIST


• Perform and document first article inspections in accordance with AS9102 requirements.


• Perform visual cosmetic inspection, often using magnification aids or microscope.


• May devise inspection setups where standard checking equipment is not available and special inspection tools and layouts are required


• Consult with Quality Assurance supervisor/management personnel for disposition of questionable materials.


• Ensure quarantined or rejected materials are properly identified, segregated and dis-positioned.


• Provide timely, accurate and friendly service to all internal and external customers


• Maintain work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition


• Comply with all quality requirements while continually maintaining and improving the effectiveness of MacKay's quality management system

Job Requirements

• 2-3 years inspection experience, preferably in a precision manufacturing environment


• Demonstrated ability to properly utilize precision measuring devices including micrometers, calipers, height gauges, CMM, bore & pitch gauges


• Natural or corrected vision to at least 20/25 and ability to differentiate between colors


• Strong attention to detail and ability to multi-task


• Knowledge of GD&T and ISO 9001 principles


• Intermediate computer navigation skills, proficient in MS Office: Outlook, Word
