Requirements

Inspects products manufactured by HYDAC to ensure compliance with contract specifications. This position has three levels: A, B, and C. Level C is entry-level, and Level A is the highest. To be considered for Level A or B, the employee must meet the requirements of all lower levels.

Level C:

  • Performs incoming inspection of selected purchased goods and fabricated products.
  • Processes quality-related documentation including certifications.
  • Follows QSP-0002 to process non-conforming material.
  • Performs audits and inspections of stock (raw material and finished goods) as directed.
  • Uses inspection equipment such as pin gages, ring gages, thread gages, calipers, micrometers, etc., to accomplish metrology of product features.
  • Completes inspection dimensional reports.
  • Compiles certification documents for finished goods.

Level B:

  • Performs outgoing inspections of selected products.
  • Conducts testing and evaluation of returned goods; determines causes of failures and documents results in evaluation reports.
  • Disassembles, repairs, or rebuilds returned goods as directed.
  • Performs in-house calibration of selected test and measurement tools and equipment.
  • Performs internal product, process, and system audits.
  • Assists with finished product certification activities.
  • Supports manufacturing personnel and activities when requested.
  • Inspects returned goods and assists in customer complaint investigations.
  • Drafts Correct Action Requests (CARs) or similar quality documents with input and review from Supervisor.

Level A:

  • Completes quality documents such as Corrective Action Reports (“8-Ds”) independently, with minimal or no supervisory input.
  • Assists Level C and B inspectors as requested.

  • Report Writing: Reads and interprets mechanical drawings; determines product conformity to specifications.

  • Practical Problem Solving: Deals with concrete variables in situations with limited standardization.
  • Instruction Interpretation: Follows written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions.
  • Software Skills: Uses database, manufacturing, and spreadsheet software.
  • Mathematical Ability: Works with probability, statistical inference, geometry, and trigonometry.
  • Troubleshooting: Determines root causes of failures in returned goods.
  • Independence: Manages QA non-conformances independently.
  • Reporting: Presents findings in written and verbal formats.

Education:

  • High School Diploma or GED

Level C: 1 to 3 months related industrial experience.

Level B: At least 2 years of manufacturing experience.

Level A: Two-year degree in a manufacturing-related field such as Manufacturing Technology, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
