Job summary

Sterling St James LLC is seeking an on-site Quality Inspector in Enfield, CT. You will inspect aero-engine hardware and shipping orders, measure components with gages and optical tools, and review GD&T to set inspection criteria.

You will verify conformance records, maintain data in databases, and support FAI per AS9102 while documenting nonconforming material and collaborating with the team to meet delivery goals.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 5 years’ inspection experience without degree.
• Experience interpreting blueprints and GD&T for inspection criteria.
• Hands-on inspection using gaging and visual methods.
• Ability to review and compile technical records such as certificates of conformance.
• Experience supporting AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
• Proficient in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Able to work in a procedure-based, regulatory environment.
• U.S. Person status is required due to the work.

Responsibilities

• Inspect incoming aero-engine hardware and shipping orders using visual inspection and applicable gaging methods.

• Review blueprints, GD&T, specifications, and quality requirements to determine inspection criteria.
• Verify certificates of conformance and other technical records for availability, accuracy, and completeness.
• Enter, retrieve, and maintain technical quality data in internal databases, customer systems, forms, and data-submittal portals.
• Support First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) packages by completing FAI inspections and verifying supporting quality records in accordance with AS9102.
• Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming material in accordance with established procedures.
• Create clear digital photographic documentation when required.
• Collaborate daily with the project or team leader and peers to meet quality, delivery, and customer-service expectations.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Measure components using hand gages, optical comparators, and advanced thread gages, including Johnson gages.
• Review blueprints, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), specifications, and quality requirements to determine inspection criteria.
• Verify certificates of conformance and other technical records for availability, accuracy, and completeness.
• Enter, retrieve, and maintain technical quality data in internal databases, customer systems, forms, and data-submittal portals.
• Support First Article Inspection Report (FAIR) packages by completing FAI inspections and verifying supporting quality records in accordance with AS9102.
• Identify, segregate, and document nonconforming material in accordance with established procedures.
• Create clear digital photographic documentation when required.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Associate degree in a technical discipline preferred, plus at least 3 years of relevant inspection or quality experience; or at least 5 years of relevant experience without a technical degree.
• Working knowledge of blueprint interpretation, quality requirements, and GD&T as they relate to inspection and gaging.
• Hands-on experience performing manual inspection with hand gages, optical comparators, thread gages, visual inspection methods, and photographic documentation.
• Ability to obtain, review, understand, verify and compile technical records and quality documents, including certificates of conformance.
• Experience supporting AS9102 First Article Inspection Reports.
• Daily working proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
• Demonstrated accuracy and focus while completing recurring and detail-intensive tasks.
• Ability to work effectively in a procedure-based, regulatory-controlled environment.
• U.S. Person status is required due to the nature of the work.

SCHEDULE AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

• On-site role in Enfield, Connecticut. Reliable personal transportation is required to meet scheduled working hours.
• Operations run Monday through Saturday between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. The initial schedule is expected to total 48 hours per week within that window and may change based on business demand.
• Hourly employees are paid 1.5 times their regular rate for hours worked over 40 in a week.
• Distribution and shop-floor environment involving desk work, walking, standing, and occasional lifting of up to 40 pounds.
• Safety shoes are required. Travel is minimal to none.
