Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in off-site fabrication and/or on-site erection of steel structures.
  • AWS Certification as Welding Inspector is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing is a plus.

Position: Quality Assurance Field Inspector (QAFP) – Geotechnical

Reports to: Chief Engineer

General Qualities
  • Excellent communication and writing skills.
  • Thorough knowledge of construction processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, with ability to navigate company internet systems.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including walking on rough terrain, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example for staff.
Technical Responsibilities
  • Conduct geotechnical inspections.
  • Perform oversight inspections and audits to ensure compliance with plans, specifications, and quality control plans.
  • Field surveillance of quality procedures, verification of corrective actions, review testing, inspection, and sampling documents.
  • Review quality control and assurance records.
  • Prepare and submit detailed daily work records in accordance with NYSDOT MURK or other approved formats.
  • Review technical drawings and engineering data to ensure structures are built according to specifications.
  • Conduct site visits, analyze engineering problems, propose solutions, and provide recommendations.
Requirements
Educational /Professional Experience
  • Minimum of five years of experience in off-site fabrication and/or on-site erection of steel structures.
  • AWS (American Welding Society) Certification as Welding Inspector (CWI) is highly desirable.
  • Experience with Non-Destructive Testing (NDT) is highly desirable.
  • ICC bolting inspector certification is highly desirable.
