This is an expert-level position. You will work on unusually significant, unique, or complex issues where the analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles, and you will be viewed as an expert in your field within the Laboratory. Work is performed under consultative direction toward predetermined long-range targets, with wide latitude in the methods, techniques, and evaluation criteria used to obtain results.

Key Responsibilities
  • Guide the development, implementation, and evaluation of processes, procedures, and applications that contribute to maintaining an effective quality program.
  • Develop advanced concepts, techniques, and standards grounded in recognized professional quality principles and theories.
  • Contribute to the development of program objectives and principles, and achieve goals through creative and effective approaches.
  • Address unusually significant, unique, or complex quality issues and provide highly creative solutions where the analysis of situations or data requires an evaluation of intangibles.
  • Shape the success of future concepts, products, and technologies through technical judgment and recommendations.
  • Create and sustain formal networks that coordinate activity among groups and other key decision makers.
  • Maintain regular working contact with resources both internal and external to the organization.
  • Determine the course of action needed to accomplish objectives, working with independent judgment and on largely self-initiated assignments.
Required Education & Experience

BS/MS degree in engineering, quality assurance, industrial systems engineering, or a related field and a minimum of 12 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. At this level, post-graduate coursework may be expected. Additional consideration may be given to professionally recognized training and certifications in related fields.

Top Skills & Requirements

  • Broad expertise or unique knowledge in quality assurance sufficient to be regarded as an expert in the field.

  • Experience resolving complex or unique issues where sound recommendations are critical to organizational objectives.
  • Proven ability to build formal networks and coordinate across groups and key decision makers.
  • Ability to work virtually self-supervised, exercising independent judgment and wide latitude in methods and evaluation criteria.
Security Clearance

An active security clearance is not required to begin this position. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and must be able to obtain and maintain a DOE security clearance if one is required for continued assignment.
