Job summary

AgileEngine is seeking a Software QA/Automation Engineer in Mexico to build regression scripts and perform comprehensive validation across smoke, integration, and performance tests. You will document behavior, analyze results, and escalate quality risks while collaborating with product and customer teams to align testing with SDLC timelines.

The role emphasizes Gherkin-based testing, prompt and harness engineering, and hands-on automation using modern frameworks.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3+ years in software quality assurance and test automation.
• Experience writing and maintaining Gherkin-based tests and BD-focused scenarios.
• Strong communication skills and team collaboration abilities.

Responsibilities

• Build regression automation scripts to support app functionality.

• Record pass/fail criteria and link failures to bugs.

Job description

What you will do

• Build regression automation scripts that support app functionality.
• Manually test software for validation and accuracy based on defined set of criteria.
• Execute smoke, regression, integration, performance and other testing types to ensure proper behavior of software.
• Record detailed documentation of feature behavior.
• Record pass/fails conditions of tests and correlate failures to bug identification.
• Identify and elevate any risk to quality of the product or the process.
• Collaborate with the product team to ensure quality throughout the SDLC and product release cycles.
• Collaborate with customer-facing teams to incorporate user feedback in the testing strategy.
• Participate in refinement and estimations of effort to promote accurate planning.
• Utilize GitHub to maintain automation repositories, run custom scripts, and facilitate automated quality practices.
• Participate in On-Call rotation.

Must haves

• 3+ years of experience in a software quality assurance role.
• 3+ years of experience in automated testing.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Possess a mindset focused on holistic quality.
• Experience writing and working with Gherkin for behavior-driven development.
• Experience with prompt engineering and harness engineering.
• Experience building Agentic skills focused on Quality Engineering.

Nice to haves

• Experience with automated testing frameworks such as Jest, Playwright, Postman, JMeter or any other object-oriented based automated testing framework.
• Experience with testing support functionalities such as GitHub Actions, LambdaTest, SendGrid, Datadog, PagerDuty.
• Proficiency in SQL.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails and backend development.
• Understanding of quality management systems and quality control processes.
• Background in data-based testing and/or security-based testing.
• A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other relevant experience.
