Job summary

BS&B Safety Systems in Tulsa, Oklahoma is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards. You will collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, vendors, sales, and customers to verify upfront quality during contract review and drive corrective actions to improve product quality and efficiency.

The role supports Space, Aviation, and Nuclear Energy projects, participating in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans,

Qualifications

• BS degree in listed engineering fields; ASQ certification a plus.
• 2+ years in metal fabrication quality assurance preferred.
• Experience with quality systems ISO 9001/AS9100/TS16949 a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain Quality Control Procedures
• Create and implement Inspection Test Plans (ITP’s)
• Perform Customer Contract Review prior to orders to ensure specs and quality requirements can be met
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Operations during Contract Review to identify requirements
• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify quality improvements and waste reduction
• Investigate customer complaints, internal defects, and supplier quality issues
• Support new product introductions with APQP, PPAP, FMEA, and Control Plans
• Perform internal process and product audits to ensure compliance
• Monitor quality performance metrics and prepare management reports
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, TS16949, and nuclear regulatory requirements
• Assist in Supplier qualification, audits, and performance improvement
• Develop and maintain Quality records
• Train employees on Quality standards
• Support customer audits and corrective actions
• Support Sustainability initiatives with suppliers

Job description

Position is located in Tulsa, Oklahoma - no relocation package is available.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring products meet customer specifications, regulatory requirements, and company quality standards. This role partners with manufacturing, engineering, vendors/suppliers, sales, and customers to verify up front quality requirements through contract review, and then to identify quality issues, implement corrective actions, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality and operational efficiency. The primary areas of Company business supported by this role are activities in the Space, Aviation, and Nuclear Energy industries.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Develop and maintain Quality Control Procedures
• Create and implement Inspection Test Plans (ITP’s)
• Perform Customer Contract Review prior to orders being manufactured to ensure that customer specifications, drawings, and quality requirements are clearly understood and can be met prior to production
• Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Operations during Contract Review to identify Quality, Regulatory, Testing, Inspection, Documentation, and Compliance requirements
• Analyze manufacturing processes to identify opportunities for quality improvement and waste reduction
• Investigate customer complaints, internal defects, and supplier quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies
• Collaborate with production, engineering, purchasing, and suppliers to resolve quality concerns
• Support new product introductions by participating in APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, and Process Validation activities as applicable
• Perform internal process and product audits to ensure compliance with quality standards and procedures
• Monitor quality performance metrics and prepare reports for Management
• Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, AS9100, TS16949, nuclear regulatory and other applicable industry standards along with any customer requirements
• Assist in Supplier qualification, Supplier audits, and Supplier performance improvement initiatives
• Develop and maintain Quality records
• Train employees on Quality standards/expectations
• Support Customer audits and assist in the implementation of corrective actions resulting from audit findings
• Support in the implementation and monitoring of Sustainability practices both internally and with suppliers to the Company.

OTHER FUNCTIONS:

• Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Education: Minimum: 4 year degree in Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Mechanical Engineering, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Chemical Engineering, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Industrial Engineering, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Metallurgical Engineering, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) with Quality Management Concentration, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) Manufacturing Management (BMM) in Quality Management, Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Quality Assurance Management, or Graduate level degrees in Quality Assurance/Control Management degree, a hard science degree will also be considered from an accredited university. Current certification by the American Society for Quality will be a plus.

Experience: Preferred, but not required, minimum 2 years of hands on and demonstrated experience in metal fabrication industry in quality assurance field. Optical comparator experience for measurements for First Article Inspections and NDT Penetrant Testing Level II qualifications.
