Job summary

Singer Vehicle Design in Torrance, CA is seeking a Quality Assurance Engineer to join the paint department. You will focus on preventing defects, reducing variation, and ensuring conformance to standards while supporting cross-functional teams.

The role emphasizes problem solving, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement across manufacturing processes. The position is onsite in Torrance with a Monday–Friday schedule.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar is required.
• Must be a problem-solver with a strong quality and customer-focused mindset.
• Knowledge of quality tools including FMEA, RCA, and SPC is preferred.
• Experience with QA methodologies and cross-functional problem solving is expected.

Responsibilities

• Contain defective products through issue definition (8D), RCA, disposition review and containment coordination.
• Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements using QA methodologies.
• Guide form, fit, function, manufacturability, and durability during program development stages.
• Coordinate FMEA, design tolerances reviews, and supplier development to prevent issues.
• Develop and release product/process control plans, inspection standards, and test instructions.

• Focus on continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste across the supply chain and production operations.


• Monitor our manufacturing processes, quality data systems, first pass yield, COPQ and continuous improvement opportunities to implement the best practices across the value stream in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”


• Establish and ensure conformance to engineering standards, product specifications, and highest customer expectations

What You’ll Do:

• Contain defective products through ownership of problem definition (8D’s), Root Cause Analysis (RCA’s), dispositions review, tracking of resolution effectiveness, and Containment coordination


• Detect non-conformances and process variations through use and standardization of Change Control management, and both Internal auditing and Layered Process auditing. Lead cross-functional problem-solving teams to drive process and product improvements; uses QA methodologies to manage and facilitate issue resolution including root cause investigations and the development, implementation and monitoring of effective corrective and preventive actions


• Guide form, fit, function, manufacturability, and durability through input at program development stages


• Prevent customer satisfaction and durability issues by coordinating Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA’s), product design specifications and tolerances reviews, past problem history, and supplier development


• Develop and release product/process control plans, inspection standards, quality and testing plans and instructions, visual work instructions, technical specifications, and various manufacturing validations


• Implement quality compliance, assurance, control, and improvement initiatives across the enterprise


• Support development and management of MRB.


• Establish and implement metrics for monitoring system effectiveness and to enable other functional managers and Quality team members to make sound quality decisions – product, supplier, customer, regulatory and systems quality

Who We’re Looking For:

• Bachelors degree in Engineering or similar


• You must be a problem-solver at your core, have a strong quality and customer-focused mindset, and have the personal drive and stamina for relentless, continual improvement.


• You should have knowledge of quality problem solving methods including, but not limited to, fishbone diagrams, FMEA, process capability analysis, hypothesis testing, DoE, SPC, Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma


• The ideal candidate will have knowledge of electrical systems and components, as you will be supporting the Electronics Department

Location & Schedule:

This position is onsite in Torrance, CA and the general schedule is Monday – Friday 5am-1:30pm.

The starting pay range for this position is between $72,461 - 156,515 per year plus bonus. Actual compensation will be determined by skills, experience, and relevant education or training. This is the range for a level I engineer to a senior engineer.
