In this role at Spire, you will conduct detailed process audits, troubleshoot and resolve issues related to materials, equipment, processes, and products. You will be responsible for implementing our robust quality control systems, as well as driving corrective actions to address any discrepancies.

The Quality Assurance Engineer will collaborate closely with managers and team leads to implement effective quality measures within their respective teams.

To excel at Spire, the ideal candidate will possess exceptional problem-solving abilities, ensuring that all processes and products consistently meet or exceed established quality standards.

What You’ll Do as a Quality Engineer:

  • Supplier Quality Management: Manage nonconformance issues with suppliers, track and report on supplier performance, review documentation, and serve as a liaison for engineering technical inquiries.
  • Quality Management System (QMS): Develop, maintain, and ensure adherence to QMS documentation to support continuous improvement and compliance.
  • Auditing: Conduct internal audits in accordance with AS9100 standards and participate in external supplier audits to ensure quality standards are met.
  • Engineering Change Notifications (ECN): Assist in the validation of engineering changes to our spacecraft, and their implementation.
  • Documentation: Support the creation and modification of Quality Control Notices (QCNs), manufacturing workflows, and work instructions to ensure accurate and efficient processes.
  • Calibration: Support the management and accuracy of the Spire equipment database, ensuring all instruments are properly calibrated.
  • Inspection: Provide support for inspection activities as needed to ensure incoming goods meet quality standards.
  • Continuous Improvement: Actively contribute to ongoing improvement initiatives to enhance quality and operational efficiency.
Key Skills:
  • HND in Engineering: Relevant qualification in an engineering discipline.
  • Quality Engineering Experience: Proven background in a Quality Engineering role, preferably in manufacturing or engineering.
  • RCCA Expertise: Skilled in driving RCCA processes to resolution, utilizing methodologies such as 8D, Ishikawa diagrams, FMEA, and Pareto analysis.
  • AS9100 Knowledge: Strong understanding of AS9100 standards (ISO 9001:2015 experience shall also be considered).
  • Fast-Paced Environment: Experience working in a dynamic setting where adaptability and problem-solving are key.
  • Communication & IT Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office and effective in both verbal and written communication.
