Job summary

Shasta Regional Medical Center in Northern California seeks a part-time Risk Manager to design and implement the organization’s risk management program. You will collaborate with safety, security, and clinical teams, lead data collection and trend analysis, and assist with claims investigations and litigation.

The role emphasizes policy development, staff education on risk reduction, and cross-disciplinary problem solving to enhance patient safety and asset protection.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor degree in nursing or healthcare field preferred.
  • ARM or CPHRM certification preferred.
  • Five years clinical or management experience in a multidisciplinary setting, inpatient preferred.
  • Experience in risk management and professional liability claims management preferred.
  • Knowledge of current state laws and regulations applicable to facilities.

  • Design, organize, coordinate and implement the Risk Management Program to protect assets.
  • Participate in performance improvement data collection and trend analysis.
  • Collaborate with safety and security, assist with claims investigation and litigation.
  • Facilitate reporting of safety data/events; develop policies and staff education on risk reduction.
  • Work with multidisciplinary teams to identify problems and implement solutions.

Responsibilities

Responsible for designing, organizing, coordinating and implementing the Risk Management Program with the objective of controlling and minimizing loss to protect the human, physical and fiscal assets of the organization. Is an active participant in performance improvement data collection, activities, and functions to promote an integrated program, which ensures the provision of the highest quality of health care. Collaborates with personnel responsible for safety and security and actively participates in risk-related activities in this area. Provides assistance with claims investigation, management and litigation. Facilitates reporting of safety data/events. Evaluates risk management program(s) through the use of data capture, follow up and trend analysis and presents findings to appropriate committees. Assists with the development and implementation of initiatives, policies and procedures, including staff education activities, regarding risk reduction/elimination throughout the organization. Collaborates with multidisciplinary team on problem identification and resolution, cost containment issues, implementation of new services and systems/ performance measures

Qualifications

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, TRAINING

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing or healthcare related field preferred
  • Fellow or Diplomat of American Society of Healthcare Risk Managers Associate in Risk Management (ARM) or Certified Professional in Healthcare Risk Management (CPHRM), preferred
  • Five years clinical and/or management experience in a multidisciplinary health care setting which includes a minimum of two years of inpatient experience preferred
  • Experience in risk management and/or professional liability claims management preferred
  • Should be knowledgeable about current State Laws and Regulations as applicable to facility

A reasonable compensation estimate for this role, which includes estimated wages, benefits, and other forms of compensation, is $24.30 to $34.58. The exact starting compensation to be offered will be determined at the time of selecting an applicant for hire, in which a wide range of factors will be considered, including but not limited to, skillset, years of applicable experience, education, credentials and licensure.
