Job summary

ADESA is hiring for an Auto Detailer at one of our US locations. The role evaluates vehicle detail quality, ensures readiness for sale, and supports the detailing line with final cleaning tasks. You will maintain a clean, safe work area and assist with basic equipment maintenance.

The position requires high school or GED, 1–2 years detailing experience preferred, and ability to follow company policies and safety procedures. Valid driver’s license and punctuality are expected.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1–2 years of auto detailing experience preferred.
  • Auction knowledge and experience preferred.
  • Proficient computer skills.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect vehicle quality and identify vehicles not meeting standards.
  • Assist on the detail line and perform final detail tasks as needed.
  • Maintain professional appearance and clean work environment; assist with shop cleaning and equipment maintenance.
  • Log vehicle information into the computer after inspection.
  • Photograph and stage vehicles to meet photo standards.
  • Return vehicles in clean condition.
  • Report equipment breakdowns and maintenance needs to management.
  • Promote company Core Values and perform other duties as assigned.

Role and Team

Reporting to the Commercial Accounts Manager (CAM) or designated supervisor, this position evaluates and ensures the quality of the detail process and that the vehicles are ready for sale. Must know, practice, and ensure that company policies, procedures, and applicable state and federal laws are followed always.

Responsibilities
  • Inspect vehicle quality and identify any vehicles that do not meet company standards. Communicate with team members in a positive and collaborative manner when quality does not meet standards.
  • Assist on the detail line and perform final detail tasks as needed.
  • Maintain a professional appearance, orderly work environment and friendly disposition. Assist with shop cleaning and basic equipment maintenance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment. Report all incidents to management immediately.
  • Properly log the vehicle information into the computer upon satisfactory completion of inspection.
  • Photograph and stage vehicles to ensure focused and clear pictures per standards.
  • Return customer's vehicles in clean condition.
  • Advise the designated Manager of all equipment breakdowns and required maintenance immediately.
  • Respond to and follow proper procedures on employee and customer accidents, injuries, and loss or damage to any property. Report all incidents to the Manager.
  • Practice and promote company Core Values.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to adapt to changing work environments, including exposure to excessive weather conditions (heat/cold).
  • Must be 18 years of age with a valid driver's license and driving record that meets company requirements.

This position is subject to both inside and outside environmental working conditions, including temperature changes, outside weather conditions, slightly elevated ambient noise levels, and minor atmospheric conditions affecting skin or respiratory systems, such as fumes, odors and dusts associated with internal and external service station/convenience food and petroleum dispensing operations.
