Job description

Optomi, in partnership with a leading real estate and property management firm with a national footprint, is seeking a QA Automation Engineer to lead the implementation of an enterprise QA automation framework for a high-visibility website used by customers nationwide. This is a 6-month remote contract role. You will work closely with an internal automation expert and development team to modernize and optimize the QA process, currently reliant on manual testing.

Experience of the Right Candidate:

The ideal candidate is a Playwright expert with a strong background in front-end UI automation, a hands-on mindset, and the confidence to recommend improvements to testing strategy and processes. You should be comfortable navigating manual testing environments while you ramp up automation and collaborate directly with development and QA leadership. Key qualities include:

• 4–6+ years of experience in QA Engineering or SDET roles
• Comfortable evaluating and improving existing automation frameworks
• Ability to balance manual and automated testing
• Experience testing React-based front-end applications
• Familiarity with content delivery platforms like Prismic (or similar CMS tools)
• Solid understanding of SQL databases and ability to validate back-end data
• Experience integrating test suites into Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to work cross-functionally and independently
• W2 preferred; C2C acceptable with strong cultural alignment and communication skills

Responsibilities of the Right Candidate

• Own the implementation and execution of a Playwright-based test automation framework across a major public-facing website
• Transition testing from a manual-first environment to automation-driven workflows
• Validate page structure, navigation, UI elements, and dynamic widgets across a deep site architecture
• Collaborate with internal SME to understand application context and ensure seamless integration of test coverage
• Build out tests for page loading, button behavior, widget responsiveness, and deep-link validation
• Design scalable, reusable test scripts for cross-regional and property-level content
• Identify gaps in existing QA processes and recommend enhancements in strategy, tooling, or coverage
• Perform manual testing where automation has not yet been implemented, particularly during the initial ramp-up
• Utilize Azure DevOps for test execution within the build pipeline
• Report defects and log issues via Azure’s tracking tools
• Ensure test coverage is in place for future releases and infrastructure changes
