Job summary

Ben E. Keith Company is seeking a Produce QA to monitor and ensure quality of produce, enforce food safety guidelines, and maintain cross-department communication. The role involves inspecting ripening areas, documenting issues, and completing timely paperwork.

Responsibilities include reporting findings, adhering to HACCP guidelines, and performing daily recaps with supervision. Requires a HS diploma, ability to lift, and willingness to work in extreme temperatures.

Qualifications

• At least one year of work-related experience preferred; or combination of education and experience.
• Food service industry experience preferred
• Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines helpful
• Ability to read and interpret rules/guidelines
• Basic data entry (10-key by touch) skills
• Ability to learn and use relevant internal applications
• Able to work in extreme temperatures (cold and hot)
• Excellent organization skills
• Ability to follow instructions
• Good communication skills
• High School Diploma or GED required

Position Summary and Responsibilities:

The purpose of the Produce QA is to monitor produce to ensure BEK's quality principles are met and maintained.

• Evaluate produce and document any issues found to ensure quality is maintained.
• Performs duties in the warehouse such as receiving and monitoring ripening area and ripening rooms for cleanliness and proper functioning of equipment.
• Complete paperwork timely and efficiently after quality inspections.
• Report findings to personnel/supervisor to maintain consistent communication among departments.
• Follow BEK Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Guidelines.
• Document any issues with product dates, and handling produce returns.
• Perform daily recaps of work performed with the supervisor

Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (Rotating Saturdays)

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

Physical Requirements:

• Must be able to work in any temperature zone including Freezer, which is 0 degrees ( -10 degrees in ice cream room)
• Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time.
• Ability to work through a +8 hour shift
• Must be able to learn the use of electronic technology.
• Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrist, hands, feet and legs.
• Ability to repetitively lift / stack.
• Must be able to lift 30-60 lbs repetitively and heavier items weighing up to 100 lbs occasionally.
• Must be able to bend at the waist; stoop to reach and squat to lift heavy items in a proper manner and operate lift assisting devices.
• Ability to operate heavy warehouse equipment, such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts.
• The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds
• Must be able to read numbers and product descriptions.
