Job summary

Ben E. Keith is seeking a quality/control associate to evaluate produce and document issues to ensure quality. You will perform warehouse tasks, monitor ripening areas, and complete post-inspection paperwork while following HACCP guidelines.

The role requires effective communication with supervisors and the ability to work in varied temperatures. Minimum one year of related experience or education, basic data entry, and a high school diploma are preferred.

  • Basic data entry skills and familiarity with internal applications.

Responsibilities

Job description

Position Summary and Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate produce and document any issues found to ensure quality is maintained.
  • Performs duties in the warehouse such as receiving and monitoring ripening area and ripening rooms for cleanliness and proper functioning of equipment.
  • Complete paperwork timely and efficiently after quality inspections.
  • Report findings to personnel/supervisor to maintain consistent communication among departments.
  • Follow BEK Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) Guidelines.
  • Document any issues with product dates, and handling produce returns.
  • Perform daily recaps of work performed with the supervisor

Schedule: Monday – Friday 8:00am-5:00pm (Rotating Saturdays)

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
  • At least one year of work-related experience preferred; or combination of education and experience
  • Food service industry experience preferred
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety guidelines helpful
  • Ability to ready and interpret rules/guidelines
  • Basic data entry (10-key by touch) skills
  • Ability to learn and use relevant internal applications
  • Able to work in extreme temperatures (cold and hot)
  • Excellent Organization skills
  • Ability to follow instructions
  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.) required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to work in any temperature zone including Freezer, which is 0 degrees ( -10 degrees in ice cream room)
  • Ability to stand/walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work through a +8 hour shift
  • Must be able to learn the use of electronic technology.
  • Must have normal use of shoulders, arms, wrist, hands, feet and legs.
  • Ability to repetitively lift / stack.
  • Must be able to lift 30-60 lbs repetitively and heavier items weighing up to 100 lbs occasionally.
  • Must be able to bend at the waist; stoop to reach and squat to lift heavy items in a proper manner and operate lift assisting devices.
  • Ability to operate heavy warehouse equipment, such as electric pallet jacks and forklifts.
  • The ability to hear, understand, and distinguish speech and/or other sounds
  • Must be able to read numbers and product descriptions.
