Job summary

EwingCole, a nationally recognized architecture, engineering, interior design and planning firm, seeks a Registered Architect - Architectural Quality Reviewer for its Philadelphia office to join the Quality Assurance Department. The QAA will ensure design and construction documentation quality across projects and collaborate with interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include quality review of drawings and specs, coordination, field issue analysis, and mentoring staff.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Architecture or BS in Engineering required or preferred.
  • 15+ years of professional experience in architecture/engineering.
  • Registered Architect or PE in at least one state preferred.
  • Experience in preparing construction documents for large, technically sophisticated projects.
  • Extensive field experience on construction sites and contract administration.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, life-safety, envelope design, and constructability.
  • Proficiency with Revit and BIM integration.

Responsibilities

  • Quality review of drawings and specifications for multiple projects to verify compliance with standards.
  • Monitor project progress and support design teams to meet goals.
  • Review submittals, RFIs, and substitution requests.
  • Conduct product research and analyze field issues.
  • Support continuing education programs within the firm.
  • Participate in quality audits after the Design Development phase.
  • Update standard detail library and master specifications.

Our multi-disciplinary practice is built on the core values of professional excellence, design quality and collaboration. We are seeking a Registered Architect - Architectural Quality Reviewer to join our Philadelphia office as a Quality Assurance Architect (QAA).

This position assists the Quality Assurance Department in overall Quality Assurance/Quality Control at EwingCole. The QAA supports the Firm's efforts for project specific solutions, working with teams of architects, engineers, consultants, and other team members and plays a critical role in achieving the firm's goals of quality design and exemplary service.

  • Member of the QA Department, a group of dedicated, technically focused professionals.
  • Quality review production drawings and specifications for a variety of projects and project-related data to verify design compliance with project, client, and industry standards, including constructability and cross-discipline coordination.
  • Monitor progress of current projects and support design teams to accomplish project goals.
  • Support design teams in the review of submittals, RFI's and substitution requests.
  • Perform product research and analysis of field issues.
  • Support the EwingCole Continuing Education Program.
  • Participate in Quality Audits on select projects following Design Development phase.
  • Assist in updating the firm's standard detail library and support master specifications updates.
  • Interface regularly with discipline directors and design teams to ensure delivery of consistent deliverables.
  • Mentor interns and design staff.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as required or requested.
Requirements
  • Bachelor of Architecture or Bachelor of Science in Engineering degree
  • 15+ years of experience
  • Registered Architect or PE in at least one state preferred
  • Experience in the preparation of construction documents on large, technically sophisticated projects
  • Extensive field experience on construction sites, including construction contract administration
  • Well versed in building codes, life-safety, envelope design and constructability
  • Competent in Microsoft Office Suite, Newforma, Procore and Bluebeam
  • Fluent in Autodesk Revit and the integration of drawings and specifications in BIM
