Job summary

Genacross Lutheran Services seeks a Quality Assurance and Training Specialist to lead centralized staff training across housing, service coordination, and CMS-related operations. The role ensures consistency, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance while supporting external inspections and surveys.

The ideal candidate has 3–5 years in QA/compliance, with strong communication and training skills. A related associate degree is required, and a bachelor’s is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree preferred in healthcare administration, business administration, public administration, social work, human services, education, or related field.
  • Minimum of three to five years of experience in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, housing operations, service coordination, or related field.
  • Experience conducting audits, compliance reviews, file reviews, inspections, mock surveys, or other QA/monitoring activities preferred.
  • Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Provides centralized training for new Housing Managers to improve consistency and standardization across properties.
  • Provides annual training on HIPAA, Fair Housing, hoarding, and other regulatory topics used in CMS compliance.
  • Trains new Service Coordinators to improve consistency and standardization across properties.
  • Completes internal QA reviews and site inspections in preparation for HUD NSPIRE inspections.
  • Assists with CMS compliance checks for Genacross LTC vendors.

Quality Assurance and Training Specialist

Full Time

** Salary between $65,000-$70,000/year **

Quality Assurance and Training Specialists are responsible for promoting consistency, quality assurance, and regulatory compliance across Genacross housing, service coordination, assisted living, and CMS-related operations. This role serves as a centralized training resource for new and existing staff, conducts internal compliance and quality reviews, and provides support to teams during external inspections, surveys, and regulatory reviews.

What will I do as a Quality Assurance and Training Specialist?

  • Provides centralized training for new Housing Managers to improve consistency and standardization across properties.
  • Provides annual training on Aff... Fair Housing Marketing Plan, Fair Housing, HIPAA, hoarding, interactions with residents with serious mental illness and cognitive decline, workplace safety, Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), operational updates, and other applicable topics.
  • Trains new Service Coordinators to improve consistency and standardization across properties.
  • Completes Service Coordination quality assurance reviews regularly, with the frequency established by Genacross.
  • Provides annual training on HIPAA, Fair Housing, hoarding, interactions with residents with serious mental illness and cognitive decline, workplace safety, operational updates, and other applicable topics
  • Conducts annual internal reviews, including mock file reviews and site reviews, at all sites. The number of files audit
  • Reviews the Enterprise Income Verification (EIV) binders annually for all sites.
  • Reviews removed/rejected applicant files to ensure compliance with the Tenant Selection Plans and HUD regulations.
  • Reviews waiting lists to ensure applicants are not skipped and applications are logged, signed, dated, and completed fully.
  • Checks bulletin boards to ensure required postings are current, including rent schedule, HIPAA contact, Organizational Integrity Program (OIP) poster, Tenant Selection Plans, Aff..., and other required postings.
  • Completes internal unit, common-area, and exterior site inspections in preparation for HUD NSPIRE inspections using the designated software program.
  • Assists the Director of Maintenance and property staff on the day of an actual HUD NSPIRE inspection.
  • Completes internal reviews that function as mock Ohio Department of Health (ODH) surveys and Ohio Department of Aging (ODA) Waiver Structural Compliance Reviews.
  • Supports staff on actual ODH surveys, including complaint and annual surveys, and ODA Waiver Structural Compliance Reviews.
  • Assists with Plans of Correction and follow-up internal reviews to support continued compliance.
  • Serves as an additional CPR/First Aid trainer, as applicable, and travel to Long Term Care/Assisted Living sites to train new hires and complete regular renewal trainings.
  • Provides annual Home and Community Based Services training overviews as refreshers.
  • Provides annual training on serious mental illness, cognitive impairment, bloodborne pathogens, infection control and universal precautions, Safety Data Sheets, hand washing, OIP, fraud/waste/abuse, cultural competency, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) compliance, HIPAA, Model of Care, and other healthcare-related topics such as safe lifting and medication compliance.
  • Assists with annual CMS compliance checks for Genacross LTC vendors.
  • Associate degree required; bachelor's degree in healthcare administration, business administration, public administration, social work, human services, education, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combinations of relevant education, training, and experience may be considered.
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in quality assurance, regulatory compliance, housing operations, service coordination, assisted living, long-term care, healthcare, staff training, or a related field.
  • Experience conducting audits, compliance reviews, file reviews, inspections, mock surveys, or other quality assurance and monitoring activities preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience developing, facilitating or delivering training, coaching, or technical assistance to employees or adult learners preferred.
  • Working knowledge of applicable federal and state regulations related to assigned areas of responsibility, including affordable housing, Fair Housing, HIPAA, assisted living, CMS, or other relevant regulatory requirements. Ability to interpret and apply policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements is required.
  • Requires strong oral and written communication, training, organization, documentation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Must be able to interpret and apply operational, housing, service coordination, assisted living, and CMS compliance requirements applicable to assigned responsibilities.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel among Genacross locations are required.
