Job summary

Texas Farm Bureau Casualty Insurance Company Underwriting - PMO is seeking a Quality Assurance professional to validate software, data changes, and new features for insurance processing systems. You will execute manual and automated tests, develop test plans, and ensure traceability from requirements to test results.

Collaborate with BA, PM and Development staff, use test management systems, and stay informed on Texas Department of Insurance rules to guide testing activities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer or technical related field from an accredited school with minimal experience demonstrating skills desired
  • Associate degree in a computer or technical related field from an accredited school with foundational experience demonstrating skills desired.

Responsibilities

  • Execute both manual and automated testing.
  • Use tools provided to efficiently and effectively execute test plans.
  • Utilize the current testing and requirements systems to follow traceability from the requirements to the test activities and record results of testing activities in the testing system.
  • Use the current testing management system to report defects and monitor for retesting.
  • Follow testing methodologies for the validation requested.
  • Prepare test plans that thoroughly and appropriately validate the changes being tested.
  • Test to satisfy requirements for the system and test outside the bounds of the system to close gaps users may encounter.
  • Use the current requirements capture system to develop test plans based on requirements stored in this system.
  • Collaborate with BA, PM and Development staff during test plan development, testing activities, and defect resolution.
  • Use the test management system to report metrics on testing activities.
  • Maintain knowledge of all processing functions in the area for all lines of business.
  • Maintain knowledge of rules and regulations established by the Texas Department of Insurance and company underwriting guidelines and procedures to apply during testing activities.
  • Test the implementation of newly developed system procedures and guidelines.
  • Other duties as assigned.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND AUTHORITY

With assistance from the Quality Assurance Analyst II, III, Senior or Supervisor:

Execute both manual and automated testing.

Use tools provided to efficiently and effectively execute test plans.

Utilize the current testing and requirements systems to follow traceability from the requirements to the test activities and record results of testing activities in the testing system.

Use the current testing management system to report defects and monitor for retesting.

Follow testing methodologies for the validation requested.

Prepare test plans that thoroughly and appropriately validate the changes being tested.

MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

At least one of the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in a computer or technical related field from an accredited school with minimal experience demonstrating skills desired
  • Associate degree in a computer or technical related field from an accredited school with foundational experience demonstrating skills desired.

Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office software required for this job.

Good verbal and written communication skills.

Ability and willingness to learn and extend skills.

Exchange information with appropriate personnel to complete work.

Learn quickly when facing new problems, open to change, and analyze both successes and failures for clues towards improvement.

Ability to plan, organize, and complete detailed work independently or in a team environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Repeated use of PC, telephone, and office machines.

Extended periods of sitting and concentration.

Occasional bending, twisting, crouching, pulling, pushing, and reaching in an office environment.

Occasional lifting and moving items weighing up to 30 lbs.

Travel as required.

Valid Texas driver's license and driving record at the time of hire which would not place the employee on probation or disqualify the employee from the Certified Fleet Operator Status, under the Company Driving and Safety Policy.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Occasional long, irregular hours.

Occasional travel by auto or other public transportation.

Work to be conducted in office environment owned or leased by company.
