Job summary

Mohawk Industries is seeking a Quality Inspector to ensure production runs meet color and quality standards. Responsibilities include final product inspections, performing quality control tests for ASTM certifications, and maintaining lab equipment certifications.

The role requires basic math, strong color vision, and familiarity with quality systems. Lift truck certification is a plus, and training will cover safety and company procedures in a fast-paced industrial setting.

Qualifications

  • Color vision sufficient for defect identification.
  • Experience with quality systems preferred.
  • Must complete required health and safety training.
  • Lift Truck Certification preferred.
  • May be required to use department specific database systems.
  • Lean manufacturing and/or Six Sigma knowledge preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Guarantee that all production runs meet color and quality standards per master.
  • Provide final product inspections to ensure defects are identified and correctly labeled.
  • Conduct quality control testing for each production run as well as periodic testing for ASTM certifications to include tensile, tear, impression recovery, weight, thickness, and layer measurement tests.
  • Identify systems and procedures to increase the accuracy of inspection and re-inspect processes.
  • Assist in the initial production runs in manufacturing to ensure production material is as close as possible visually to the standard.
  • Maintain certification standards of all lab equipment on a yearly basis.
  • Attend any job-related training deemed necessary by supervision.
  • Follow all established standard operating procedures.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties as necessary.
  • Perform other tasks assigned by management.

Primary Objective

Major Function and Scope
  • Guarantee that all production runs meet color and quality standards per master

Physical Requirements / Other Pertinent Job Information

  • May require bending, squatting, climbing, and other physical movement for long periods of time
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds frequently
  • Working around moving equipment and in an industrial environment

Working in an environment where there may be regular exposure to chemicals, noise from machinery, dust, fumes, and variable temperatures
